Today I woke up at 1 pm, incredibly drunk.

I tried staving off the drunkenness in bed, but unfortunately the version of Yamakasi I downloaded was in German, so I was prompted to join the world.

I ate the leftover tortellini verde in my fridge, drank a glass of water. Stumbled around like a goose with a lazy eye gonked out staring into an LED...

What curious mental pictures you can create!

Remember to pack that LED brain machine for the trip to P. You'll need it.

Ha! I do really call him Beard, though; he's got one. smile

I'm not adventurous whatsoever with my tea, and I sort of don't know why. I think I just don't know where to start. I take your most basic, Lipton black tea--with milk and a couple sugars.

What day do you arrive again? I lost your flights details. But if it's the 2nd we'll go to a dyke party so that you'll be able to check if Parisian lesbians listen to Nouvelle Vague or not.
And my mum is going to make us an awesome french diner with good wines and champagn.
YUMMY.

One month until Paris.

Ophelie's set the bar high for Parisians - funny, filthy, cute, arty, and vaguely blase. Pretty much how I imagined Parisians were my whole life of romanticizing France.. apparently it's not like that, but I'll have a blast. I refuse disappointment.

Until then.. take it away Screamin' Jay...

When I went to France, it WAS exactly like that.
And exactly like every other way any one had ever imagined it or described it to me.
And exactly like in every movie you've ever seen that takes place there. Of every Period.
Feels like what Dimitri from Paris sounded like, to me, at least, in 2001.

Take a train, a road trip, and try to find yourself in a village called Chatillon-Coligny, south of Paris, in Berri-Limousin, to a restaurant of the same name. Best meal I've ever had. Ever.

When I moved to Montreal it was because I was getting bored of all the things I was used to doing and having the same types of conversations with the same people. (although now I miss some of those conversations - there's not as many weirdos out there as I'd like).

So that's starting to happen again. I'm growing a bit weary of Plateau fabulousness,...

What is it you're looking for in all these places?
I found mostly the same old shit, expressed in another language.
Some places tend to attract more interesting people, true.
But predictably excellent conversations come from cultivating fascinating friends, imho.

Okay. So the weekend has been pretty fucking fantastic. Kick things off with the singular, the legendary, the only diva of our time - Bjork.

She played the quays on the old port friday night and blew our respective minds. Not only did she have a 9 piece Icelandic horn section (!), the drummer from Sonic Youth, she turned the tracks from her new...

Your blog mentioned Amy Denio, that would have instantly made you qualify for SGAU, even if you had a cock picture for a profile pic, along with a gazillion 'I loved it' comments.

as soon as possible. we signed the lease yesterday, we're waiting for the current tenants to move out. it'll be a while before we're settled and completely out our current place, though.

yeah, allium acres is the homestead an hour south of nashville. so i'll be rotating between being a civilized city girl and a feral bumpkin every week. that'll be weird.

I had this whole self-reflexive witty entry I was about to post.. but then the subject began to bore me and I felt too repetitive.

The truth is lately I've been unproductive, and trying to distract myself from the fact by watching fine shows (Flight of the Conchords, season 2 of the IT Crowd, Californication), listening to audiobooks, and going on dates.

I had a...

about 8 months ago i was going through what i think you're going through now. but i did what you're doing, i kept myself busy by reading a ton and watching funny things. once you climb out of it, at least your brain won't be too out of shape.

don't fret!!
maike:
Yes. Some regulation which mandates that specific information be conspicuously displayed when outside the home would be helpful and efficient.

I don't even know why I keep posting here.. it seems like no one reads the thing anymore.

I'm tired of not meeting many new people that I find really engaging. It's annoying sometimes to be more entertained by your own company than that of others.. and having few people to talk to about your most important interests.

I'm slightly grumpy, and slightly drunk. Blah...

Late afternoon is the best time to find me there. The place is stupidly busy, most of the time. Come by anyway, if only to laugh at the tourists.

Also: I *just* got my hair cut. Thanks for the message, all the same.

Now if only more people HAD informed opinions...I long for the day.

Yesterday I discovered one way to cure yourself of a terrible hangover (induced by drinking a bottle of super cheap wine that you found on the street) is to get yourself in a bicycle accident.

One wrong move and I was catapulted over my handlebars like a flaming ball of tar out of a medieval siege engine. My hands got a bit cut up, swollen...

So far so good... had some really awful teriyaki for lunch (fuck you and your terrible Asian food, Toronto!) and made a veggie-laden stir-fry for dinner. W00t!

It's boggling my mind, cus it's not like I'm looking for anything special. I just want a noodle joint, like the million they've got in MTL, and they can't even do THAT right.

Lotus came and visited with a friend and we went to a Bollywood Bike-in and caught a long 70s Bollywood classic and danced the night away til dawn. I heard the worst pick-up lines ever used on my roommates cute blond 19 year old friends.

I took a 2 day weekend course in Swedish massage, which was super fun. I've been such...

congratulations: you're human.

i hope you find whatever it is you're missing. here's a secret--the adage "it's always in the last place you look" couldn't be less true.

Cody ChesnuTT's album "the Headphone Masterpiece" may be one of the best albums I've heard in years. Don't know how I missed this when it came out (2002). He's really the heir to Arthur Lee - except in a hypersexualized gangta knid of way. I can't wait until he plays here in October.

Not too mention other upcoming concerts - Sir Richard Bishop, Devendra Banhart,...

I want to fall in love too without the babies.
Don't know why it seems I can't. But we'll talk about all this future, feelings (of course sex) when you'll be in town. Can't wait to see you.
Let me know about your tickets.
