You know the question, if you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
I have 3 or 4 people, but one of them is Bono from U2, purely because the way he mixes philosophy, politics and music fascinates me.

Damn, I was actually pretty out of it last night-- I only vaguely remember writing my last post. I quite regularly start writing a blog or a comment and then give up because it's banal, and I thought this was one of them. Guess not. It doesn't make a lot of sense either. Oops.
I just chatted to one of my friends from university, who...

  Why thank you very much!!!!

I'm just that level of drunk right now where you could ask me anything.
I just called Mrs. Lego on the way home and said, "ok, have a pee, eat, and then call me", and then resorted to the word(s) ahahahahahaha (give or take the odd consonant) many times because I'm way too tired to anunciate anything sensible.
On the other hand, I finallly have...

30 days today until I'm in the US. All being well, I'll be there in 713 hours.
The first 3 days will be reasonably easy, being a tourist in NY, but then Mrs. Lego and I are flying "home" to Raleigh and from there I know in broad terms what I need to do, but very little in specifics. This is quite cool, because it...

It does in fact have to do with the predicament earlier this week. You're actually mostly right...

Yesterday was a good day. The references for my security pass finally got sorted out (2.5 months into the 3month job!), so hopefully I'll be up and running this week or next. This also means I can officially accept the permanent position. Hooray!
My friend Mark had an interview for a job as a security guard at the airport and it looks like he might...

Shit. My bank manager is going to have a fiiiit if he sees how much I've spent this weekend.
So Friday I got a catalogue from my favourite music store. I went up to London on Saturday, ummed and ahhed and should've probably come home as soon as I realised music supplies aren't essential right now. Instead:

I think it might be more disturbing if his willy wasn't tucked. Especially when you're being chased by one. (Not that that's ever happened to me...)
Today was a... busy day. I'd say productive, but on reflection it wasn't. A lot got done, though.
OK, first of all, I confess I like John Mayer. I believe that makes me a girl, but what are ya gonna do? Tickets went on sale at 9am today for one UK show at the Albert Hall next month. I got up at 11 and figured...

That's actually how I first got hooked on the glue.
I used to keep pet rats. One day, Mister 3 got loose while his cage was being cleaned, the cats started stalking him, he freaked out and bit me when I tried to pick him up. I had to go to the hospital, and waiting 8 hours for them to come in and glue my finger shut and put a bandage on it. AND it costs $800. Bastards.

Our health care systems (or lack there of) are horrible in so many ways. If you plan on visiting, I'd suggest living in a plastic bubble.

So the gig was pretty cool. I left work on Sunday, met up with the band straight away, got changed, loaded the cars with our gear and then set off on the 3 hour drive to the hotel. Checked in and then set off to find the venue, which took a while-- Sat Nav is great for sweeping drives across the nation, but not so...

At a different uncles funeral they played the Beach Boys, which actually made me cry more. I think your friend might be onto something.

My body is a mess.
So this cold I've had started as a touch of a sore throat on Sunday. By Monday, the sore throat had gone and it had gone to my nose. By Wednesday, my nose was basically fine and I'd developed a tickly cough... It's like a cold in stages.
Added to that, I fell asleep on the couch for a bit...

I've got a cold right now myself. I was feeling fine, just a runny nose and I woke up thismorning sneezin like crazy and now I'm coughing. I am seriously thinking about calling out from work.

You shouldn't drink liquids a couple hours before bed. It helps.
Getting out of bed is always the worst part of my day. If I make it up without falling down or running into something I'm doing good. Which is rare.

Today was my first of three days off work this week.
Inevitably, working shifts and under a fair amount of stress, I appear to have picked up the beginnings of a cold, but it wasn't enough to spoil an otherwise productive day.
As planned, I spent about 3 hours studying bass lines from John Legend's first album. For a man that plays keys, his songs...

It's come to my attention that last week's syncope and a random fit of inexplicable sobbing a little further back are both symptoms of stress. It wouldn't surprise me if I were stressed at the moment, considering the demands of my job, the latent threat of mortal danger to me in the work place, the strains of balancing career prospects against relational commitments, and generally...

Oh, how I fondly remember those days. I think i've been baby powdered on more than one ocassion. Sadly, I think my parents might be up for that more than looking for furniture. Keep in mind dad was a hippy/biker and mom has been confined to the house with domestic duties for the past few years. They're both easily excitable.
If you find any good information on the slave trade in the United Kingdom let me know. I took an American history course this summer that dealth primarily with the states end of it, but I always wondered what happened to the slaves that sided with England during the Revolutionary War.

They had a lightswitch cover as well, but I thought that might be over doing it a bit. I'm trying to keep my toys confined to one area. It's difficult, but I'm managing. Let's hope it never comes down to having to chose between the Garfield phone and my Ninja Turtles. That will be a sad day indeed.
coney island if you get the chance. taking the D train, it doesn't take too long and the ride through brooklyn is almost entirely above ground. you can see nathan's world famous, the home of the american hot dog. to one end of the boardwalk, there's the aquarium, which was a mafia dump site before it was developed. (neat, huh?) to the other end of the boardwalk, there's an abandoned restaurant from coney island's days as america's playground. it is really beautiful. if you really want to walk far, there's a lighthouse which is on its last master. there's a pretty great freakshow on surf ave. lola star (on the boardwalk) has THE BEST coney island knick knacks. i have a beach towel that is exclusive to them. the last time i was in new york, that's where i bought everyone gifts. there's also a photobooth at the base of the wonder wheel. try checking out if the cyclones have a game while you're in town.
the automat on st marks is, i believe, the only one in existance on the east coast. at the very least, it's visually interesting. and if you like sunglasses, you're on the right street.
if you like musicals (or RENT, specifically), the life cafe is a real place with exceptional breakfast potatoes (and t-shirts for sale). and it's really close to a lovely park where basquiat was discovered. (and a pretty cool joe strummer mural.)
have a cupcake from either magnolia or babycakes (the latter is vegan, but has THE BEST carrot cake ever).
walk over the brooklyn bridge -or- walk over the manhattan bridge to get a beautiful view of the brooklyn bridge.
check out the mta transit museum in brooklyn. it's in a former subway stop and features all the old cars that have been used over the years. it's a pretty fun place to take photos.
if they have a show, my friends she keeps bees are worth checking out, in my opinion. they were picked by L magazine as one of the 8 bands to watch in nyc.
