In reference to the second article, the thing that I find really frightening is the way so many people rally behind him, despite the overwhelming evidence of his mental illness, the failure of his policy both domestic and forgien. The conclusion that I've come to is that as a whole american culture is a self centered and close minded, we don't want more freedom, we want things to remain the same, to not challenge our small and preconcieved notions of the world. The mental illness and delusion of the president is the ilness and disease of the american mind, only to a more extreme degree. What freedom do we actually exercise? The freedom to work 9-5 looking forward to church barbeques and PTA meetings. 40-50% of the country would be perfectly happy with extreme censorship, complete erosion of free speach and privacy laws.
My chef, who is a born again christian said in response to my view of the patriot act, and other 'counter-terrorism' legislation, "we're not a free country anymore, things are going to be differnt, and that's ok, because it's nessicary so that we can be safe." The reason that he isn't infuriated is because it doesn't threaten his freedom as an individual. Nothing is going to change for him, he can continue being an absentee father who goes to church on sunday without the slightest fear, why beacuse his thinking and the thinking of our administartion are one and the same. Those who get angry are those who have somthing to lose, protesters artists, students, those who live differently, changing the world indirectly through example, those who try to be truly free. And all we cn do is vote, protest and continue to set an example, so that we can change the way people see the world. "The aim of the artist is to make the viewer see the world as the artist sees it"

We went to Mannheim. Our church went there on a "mission trip" doing christian street dramas and helping with the churches there. That part of the trip was pretty lame though ha ha. But we got to stay in this one church member's castle. She rented rooms out to people but we got to stay there for free. The mountains and hills were breath taking there and the castle was like something out of dream. Good times good times.
