I did the same thing - ripped up the tile and had the floor refinished - it came out great. Funny thing - but the tile protected the wood floor from a great deal of the damage that was in the house.

the house didn't close today, but the lender is going to cover the rest of the per-diem charges till it closes , so I don't owe any more money. But I'm not going to get excited until I have key in hand and am standing inside the damn thing. smile
