No no, that's the thing: they won't LET us contest it! We went to three administrative hearings on the matter and because when we were jumping through bureaucratic hoops we apparently missed one, we're SOL. The only way to get the car back is to pony up $600.

My guess is it's a popularity contest. That's part of the reason I decided not to try and go pink after my SG application got accepted. I had enough of that crap in highschool. (Although, they are lovely "old" ladies as well as "new").
