Man, I really feel you on the empty city.  When I was in NYC I used to love that, but because there's not really a holiday season you usually catch it late late at night or very early in the morning.  It's true that NY never sleeps, but it's dreamy when it's drowsy.  I'm jealous of your Iceland trip - I wanna GOOOOOO!  Oh, and that morning earth smell you mentioned is called "petrichor".   It was also my answer for favorite spring smell in my own Spring questionnaire, and the science behind it is really interesting.

I love the story that goes with your "Story"!  A nice look inside a shootfest.  And of course - was having trouble placing the mythology from the text.  MNS has made some rough films, but I think he gets too much shit, too.  I think it's because after people were looking for the twist in every film it was like a game that he lost every time he couldn't fool the whole fucking world.  I've been into superheroes and comics my whole life, and even after the advent of the MCU I still think Unbreakable is the best superhero movie ever made.  Maybe not my favorite anymore - not sure - but the best as a film for sure.  Even when he fails, he has a great dynamic visual imagination and is not only very perceptive and facile with themes, but also great at writing theme >through< characters.  Good characters who aren't just cyphers for concepts.
