So, I finally got sick. It took all year for me to get hit by the whole congestion, fever and aches thing, but it did it.

I feel better than I did this morning and last night, so that's good.

I have a feeling NYE will be VERY quiet.

Ellen Page already had her little bit of Marvel glory as Kitty Pryde, remember?

I think she's a little too young as Wasp, mainly in that I always envision Janet as a little more cosmopolitan and experienced? Like more of a Sex in the City kind of gal.
Oooo! Kristin Davis! I could see her in an Avengers movie or something!
biggrin

Dude, is that a new Incredible Hulk picture?? eeek
If so, where did you find it??

I think the weather and the lack of consistent sunlight is increasing my usual introverted behavior.

As much as I enjoy spending time around the good people of SG Chicago, I'm finding that just kicking back at the ol' homestead, baking and cooking and being domesticated is doing more for my mood than any beers or socializing.

That's not right, somehow.

Hibernation? Probably.

Rochester was the best, but you're very right; his bits in YCTIWY were pretty retrograde. He was the best part of the Benny shows, especially on radio.

I also have to admit I have a thing against Donna Reed, but mostly for her crappy TV show. They used to run it on Nick At Nite (before they had the TV Land network) and Reed played the most insufferable snot of a mother. Totally poisoned me towards her and this movie didn't make it any better.

Also: notice how decidedly unpassionate the big kiss between Reed and Stewart is in the telephone scene? The original take was better but the censors cut it out as being a little too horny for public consumption.

jane and jeff were the best.
though i quite liked sally too and her psycho self.

No wonder I can't get promoted or hold a managerial position.

I can't manage my personal time for shit.

Sorry, RogueScarlet...I'll owe you some beers next time I see you. frown

Nah, I can't manage my time well and they let me run stuff...

Of course the guy I work for is even worse so maybe it is all a frame of reference thing.

I know they're legally bound to do it when someone applies internally, but telling someone they didn't get promoted is the suckiest thing ever.

At least it feels like that from my side.

Maybe this wasn't the time or place.

Is it an omen that I started getting calls from other places about my resume? Probably not.

EDIT: I'm better about it. My manager pretty...

Christmas party last night with girlfriend in attendance. Way too short, and Nevin's Pub is not the place for a party. The food was lackluster and it was either too hot or too cold in the bar. However, our bartender was awesome, so that's all that matters.

Still, as parties go, pretty lame.

I hope my boss decides to throw a party at her place....

I'll post an event thing for bowling in the SG Chicago forum shortly once I figure out the date. Obviously it shouldn't conflict with any other events, so I'll try not to.....

Ok, here are the options:

Waveland Bowl

It's non-smoking, so some people may not care for that. But it does have beer. Lanes seem a little pricey, though. Now that I look at it, their website isn't very helpful.

Diversey River Bowl

There are a few others but they're either very pricey (70 bucks per lane with a two lane minimum? The FUCK???) or the...

No dinner at Blue Frog for me tonight.

I've had it, though. Rather than keep missing events, I should just plan one.

I think I'm going to plan a bowling night out. There's a place out here called Pinstripes that serves dinner, but I know not everyone can make it out to the burbs. I'm going to do some research and then post in the...

So today I am one year away from 40. The big Four Oh. It's a little surreal to me. I remember my 21st birthday and my 30th birthday. Both were completely unremarkable and rather depressing. My 21st involved doing nothing. I think I was at home with my family. My 30th birthday involved being stood up by a woman who clearly was not interested in...

Happy belated birthday. My 21st was the same day as my first day of my first job out of college. Joe Catania, with whom I went to both Kindergarten and College (but none of the grades in between), and I went to the Tequila Roadhouse on Wells St. We only had time for one pitcher of beer before we had to catch our trains back to the suburbs but we were late and had to run from Michigan Ave. to the train stations and completely wasted what little buzz we had. Most of the other birthdays since than have really sucked.

But, like I say, happy belated birthday
