I'm in the hometown for a friend's comissioning into the marines tomorrow night. theres to be a party that everyone is suspecting will be epic in nature. as such, everyone is lying low tonight to rest up for tomorrow nights antics, and there isn't shit to do in los altos, even on a friday night.
regarding that whole pen vs sword debate...
i think i picked a side, at least as far as my tax return is concerned.
I've wanted a sword for a lotta years. i like the sharp and pointies as much as the next ex fencer, and probably a lot more than your average joe. so when i got a VERY substantial tax return, i thought to...

"love is the renunciation of possession" - Simone de Beauvoir
I'm absolutely certain there is a god, and that he's a bastard. either that or i'm the victim of some kind of sick reality tv program.
If i've been awake in class the last month, it was a victory. Listening was a rare state indeed. That i should be concious exactly long enough to partake...

she fell asleep with her head on my shoulder, curled up against me, and said that she never did that, never slept well next to anyone. this improbably intersection of people. she's in my life now.

i'm reverting to cold boy stage. Groups of people make me sick. liiterally. thankfully, my ulcer has calmed down. Vegas on tuesday. Thats gonna be great.
I read The Diamond Age and was like "what the fuck was that?". The rest of the book was great, but the ending was just like horrible. Snow Crash's ending was really dissapointing. That's definetly why it's only my second favorite book. From what I read, Stephenson isn't great at ending books.
I'll write down those books you gave me and go to Powell's (I don't know if you know it, but it's about the size of a city block full of books) and I'm pretty sure with I'll be able to find most, if not all of those books.
