The laptop has shipped, it's finally out of production, so I'm actually hopeful about it arriving tommorow.

Also got the invitation to my sister's wedding in the mail this morning, sort of wierd to think of her getting married.

I also picked up halo 2 last night, so tonight I'll be blasting little aliens and running like a little girl from the big ones.

the trick is to run like a little girl directly at the big ones. if you've got Live and haven't joined the SG North America clan yet, let me know so we can get you in there (should you wish to become a part of our motley gang of hooligans).

i may indeed be looking for contracts. there's a fairly high level of upheaval going on and i might find myself sitting in vancouver with a whole lot of time on my hands pretty soon.

yea me and my brother are starting to have similar taste in things, so i will probably just buy him an item of clothing. he wants food related stuff, but he is a trained chef chef so i don't know what's good, and what kind of... spices of the orient or whatever he wants me to buy. haha.

I was talking to the boss this morning, and he was talking about some clients coming in to discuss us doing more work for them. So I ended up telling him if he asked me to work next week I was quitting, apparently he'll be telling them we can't start anything till the week after next when he meets them tommorow.

Nothing quite like not...

i agree. lack of interest and care always gets you what you want. [especially if getting fired/quitting is the other thing you desperately want!]
posh:
i'll be there for the saturday only. then off to victoria for a couple days. we're heading back for four days in december. i was hoping we could organize a session of d&d.

Ah yes, monday morning. Dragging your ass out of bed, stumbling to the office. And yes once again missing a deadline. As a great programmer friend of mine says, "I love deadlines, especially the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by." I've now managed to get so burnt out that I can't do 3 days worth of work in a week. The downside...

Work today just isn't. Got in, looked at what I'd done yesterday, and tossed it, went back to monday's source. Emailed the client to let him know it's not going to be done today. Going forward with this stuff isn't going right now. Totally distracted, but not by anything in particular, just distracted in general.

Gotta shake this and get a new version out for...

oooh, good luck with the code. I downloaded something called RUBY the other day, just to run a script I'd found. Interesting, but I'm not sure it'll knock Python off it's spot.

Tried to meet up with SG Vancouver people last night, but I suck and managed to be late. All was not lost as I saw the Incredibles with a friend instead, and then went off to a dinner of perogies.

Now this might not sound so good, unless you make em right. Fry up some bacon while you're boiling the perogies. Then toss in some...

i miss bacon. so tasty and fatty.

i understand them hating windows. if i could afford to switch, i would. i guess it is possibly for "hacker" types to use a mac. it just doesn't seem especially likely.

i found out that confrontation minis can only be mail ordered from a company in calgary. apparently they are the only west coast company that carries them.

So, not all is well and happy in the world of miniatures. I discovered that the plastic parts explode off the metal miniatures if you drop them. The same goes for plastic miniatures with metal parts, can we say heavy weapons squad.

The problem being that I prefer to paint things in sections and then glue them all together, this means I'm gluing paint to...

Can you paint, then remove the paint with fine sand paper or a scalpel or something? I guess that means you have weak points which would start to flake?

Friday morning, well just barely but it still is. Slept like crap last night, wandered into work a little while ago and was greeted with "Rough sleep? You look like shit." It's good to work with friends, well some days more than others.

Supposed to be going out tonight with a friend I haven't seen in a few months. She's working right near my place...

hmm yeah. i'm unsure of how that will work. in beta we had unlimited characters on both sides, both servers.
dwarven paladin you say. you should hear d20's romantic journey story. he crossed terrible lands to get to darnassus where i was questing. he had to run through contested territory. he was level five when he came. thankfully a higher level took pity on his sappy quest to get to the elf and piggybacked him most of the way.
chances are, he will be a dwarven paladin also.

Reading your journal is more than a bit scary. It is almost excactly what i have planned for the first few days after I get back home from being on the road.

I have to start and finsh a terminator squad though.

Oh well i ma geek and proud of it.

Well as my space marine army is nearing completion, I'm leaning more and more towards doing some skaven up next. I had originaly planned to do up some 40K orcs so my friends who didn't have armies could drop in and play, but the furry evilness of the rat people is calling to me. We'll have to see what happens.

I broke down and ordered...

I havn't seen the codex yet but i hear it kicks ass with the triet system and all new skill that vetrans can get.

I will pick it up next time i am home.

My company is going thru a merger now too but i am not sure I want to wait and see what the out come is

*Stretch*

Monday morning again, and another thrilling weekend. Well maybe not thrilling, but at least I wasn't working for two whole days. Went out with some friends, and spent Sunday watching zombie movies, don't know if that's getting into the hallowe'en spirit, but it's as close as I get.

I finally started using e-tools about two weeks ago. The program's finally at the point where...

There is nothing wrong with Zombie movies and a perefect past time for halloween.

I hate trying to get the heavy weapons to fit on marines that is why I use epoxy to fill invthe gaps and hide small errors
posh:
i hate bug fix days!

i lack dvds. i rarely buy movies. generally, it's just music and video games.

i went to the games shop last friday, all excited. alas, when i got there they had no idea what confrontation was. the fact that he said it was coming out end of november was one clue to that. then he thought it was an expansion of d&d or warhammer. so it looks like mail order is the way to go. at some point in the near future, the reapers will be mine.

Well, I had a quick talk with the boss today, and it seems I'm still going to have a job on Monday.

Basically I'm going to hang around here for a while, and me and him are going to talk later tonight and figure out the longer term plans. I will eventually get split off, but it looks like he'll run the buisness end of...

the client-side flash app loads a php class as a service and uses its methods to send RPCs. it's wacky, and probably best explained with code...

let's say you have a php class that looks like this:

class UberService {
function helloWorld() {
return "hello world";
}
}

in flash, you then write the following:

var hello:Service = new Service(gateway,"UberService");

var result:String = hello.helloWorld();

see? you're actually using the php class's methods in actionscript. it's madness, but an awesome kind of madness that involves transparently tossing classes from one language to another.
d20:
it's on the server, along with the gateway class and the AMFPHP files that do the leg work between flash and php.

This thing needs to get decided, is the company I work for going to continue or not? If it does continue am I going to still be working for them or not? If not do I go find a new job, or do I go the way of running my own buisness?

I'm not worried, in that I know I can find something or keep...

Monday morning again.

Got into the office about 11, and found another computer waiting for me. It seems to want some new software, such a greedy machine, always looking for upgrades. Hopefully I can get it done by tommorow afternoon, that's when I need to drop it off so it can get on a plane.

On the painting little people front there's still a lack...

i will have to look into it. d20 banks at royal and hasn't got any holds on his account. but then that comes from us depositing both of our cheques in his account everytime we got paid. they thought he was making lots of money.

i really hope their rbc centure accounts can help me out. a 3 day hold would make me so happy. anything up to a week even. damn american dollar cheques.

not yet... though i don't doubt that the day is coming. Dragon Cards closes at 5pm except on fridays... there's Friday Night Magic there, and it's strangely tempting to go and play, at least once. stop in, get Posh some minis and a core warhammer book, then see if my old Magic cards can stand up to whatever new-fangled crap the latest expansion has come out with.
