Sorry to hear about your grandfather, but you memorialized him very well here! I miss my passed grandparents and the lessons they taught me by just living.

I wish there WERE more people in this world like your grandfather. Someone you could count on to be true to himself and respectful to others at every given moment. There IS no "just this time" or "what would it hurt if i...?" I would more people just had respect for others. I don't mean to make this into a springboard into another message.....the kind and respectful words you have for your grandfather inspired me to speak up.

My pop was a Marine in Vietnam.

I was in the Navy for a few years, but pretty much all I did during my enlistment was drink beer. Not quite the same thing, is it?
