This week I was sadden by the news of friend that passed and was dear to my heart. When these things happen I always feel like I was hit by a freight train. Body aches, tears flow and I feel empty inside.
Life is precious. We need to take every minute of every day and treat it as if it was our last. We never know when our time is up. Paths have been laid for each of us and we need to enjoy what time we have together and love life.
I've been known to be pessimistic about things. It angers me how little people care about others and how our world is turning into hatred fueled by racism and stereotyping. I fight these things all the time. I stand up for everyone and truly believe that each person is unique and love them for who they are.
Losing the second friend this year was a hard hit. You barely get over the grieving of one and now have to do this for another, but I always try to remember the good times. The times we've had together while they were still alive and living life.
DJ was a inspiration. His quirky sense of humor and love of life brought joy into mine. I can't remember a single time being out with him and not laughing my ass off or dancing my buns off. DJ had such a amazing sense of humor. He use to scream out Lil John quotes and the vocal resemblance was uncanny.
We use to do pub crawls after pub crawls and I will never forget how much fun we had on those. He use to run the bus with me and it was some of the best times in my life. I will never forget the year that next to no one came out for my birthday because unfortunately my day lands the day after Canada Day.
I got a raspy phone call from DJ saying to get ready were hitting 17th Avenue and that no matter how hung over he was were still going out. So me, Travis, Ana, Rodrigo and Carey hit Classic Jacks where the boys fed me 11 Prairie Fire Shooters and made my day really special despite it being cold and pouring rain in July.
When things like this happen in our lives we need to come together and support each other. We need to supply a shoulder to cry on and a hand for those who have fallen and need our help. Always live your life to the fullest and spend every waking moment with those you love. Care for your friends, family and strangers and try to make this world a better place.
It just takes one person at a time and together we can change and grow.
