The Hacker's Song
Unease, untouched, unknown, unseen
Just behind each glowing screen-
Three Friendly Forces hue my hat?
No, six hex zeroes are used for that.

A bit after dawn, as I decided whether or not to get up this morning (and I've already spoiled the suspense there) I heard a sound like a shot ring out, from far away, and felt the house shake lightly. Transformer blowing somewhere a bit closer in to town, most likely.

Power dropped, then came back, then dropped, then came back, over the space of...

I can beat the normal difficulty in Elder Sign every time. I have yet to beat either of the two hard levels and have only been fairly close twice. I have yet to beat the AI in Ticket to Ride. I've beaten it with the regular score a couple of times, only to have it pull ahead with the bonus for the longest rail line. K, the friend who recommended it, said it took her a couple months before she was beating the AI enough that she felt comfortable playing online. Maybe I'll just stick with Words with Myself and Triple Town.

Two Minute Drill
I hear a phrase, a word, a line
Inside this silly head of mine
And it wants out, but it wants more-
And so one line is changed to four.
And four is fine, but they have tricks
And now they've made me go to six.
I'd rather not participate
But I can't stop, and now they're eight.
While eight is fine...

The time for running comes headlong
Pushing both the weak and strong
In its unfailing, quickening flow-
In other words: it's time to go.
And to this verse I might add more-
But I've a date now with the door.

I will keep an eye out for it. I'm going to PAX East at the end of the month and in my head they will have every board game ever. I'm really excited to play suburbia, I've been meaning to buy it once I have a bit of spare money... I wrote my dissertation on my hatred of suburbia so it seems like such an apt game for me. ;]

Simply shattered, shards and dust:
Plans and pride of need all must
Fall, and falter, and fade, forgetting
Just why was needed such grand blood-letting.

The word for word is simply "word"-
An absurdity gets called "absurd"
And trite is "trite" and true is "true"
Who reads this, though? I bet it's "you".

The first and last this world has heard
Were not a voice, won't be a word-
But at some level much deeper down
Where concepts let the conscious drown
Amid the solid, slient tocks
Measured on no earthly clocks
One final, slight, uncertain tick
Will fall in place, and latch with click.
I'm afraid to know- is that the last
Or just another future, passed?

If your psoriasis is even half as bad as mine it's really not a little thing. I really loathe my psoriasis and I hate how people make it appear like just some dry skin. I'm not sure about yours but I know mine cracks and bleeds and hurts quite a lot in the winter.

I do know I have quite a bad case of it so I guess it depends on the person. but things like these should never be a competition of who has it better or worse. I'm sorry you have to suffer at all. <3

I could break your very soul-
But where's the point, and what's the goal?
It's the least and lowest art
To seize upon a wearied heart.
When love has fled and hope is gone
It's but a shell that lingers on-
But in each shell one hears the sea
And that, my dear, is where I'll be.

I really love the idea of this poem but I find it wanders into far to many directions. I question who really has the wearied heart here and can anyone really break someones soul?
aristophanes:
That's a pretty poem.

Best line I wish that I could say originated with me:

In case you were wondering, no, I have not quite gone mad- that last was six samples of randomly computer-generated text, based on the first three chapters of Wuthering Heights. I'm fairly proud of the program I wrote to do this. It uses seven-letter sequence conditional probabilities to generate, and I used "neighbo" as the key (the starting point).

It's said a billion monkeys...
