My friend was telling me about SG and I realized that I hadnt spent some time here for a while. So Im gonna try to make an effort from now onI even changed my username and photo as a new start. Ive actually been pretty busy since last August, even though Ive been flaking on going to class for the last 6 months fortunately I...

Rien a signaler.

I don't have class this month and finally have time to think about what I wanna do next as I'm done with my last video project.

I missed PJ Harvey shows; I wanted to see her again but the three shows were sold out--I could have requested a pass for the Rock & Film fest but didn't wanna have to work on...

rien de special.

This weekend was low-key. Went out on Friday night and worked on Saturday and Sunday. Highlight of the weekend was going to the pool for my usual 50 lapses which says much about how exciting this couple of days was... also saw my ex. After a few weeks of fun, life has gotten back to normal and it's kinda boring..I need some...

The Latin American film festival just ended. It was a lot of fun, even though I didn't see anything striking--there was some fun comedies but in terms of drama, it wasn't that great--at least for what I saw. There's a film that surely will be talked about; it's called Desnudes and it's pretty heavy in nudity (most of it is male nudity though, which will...

my humbling moment ... involves giving my ex-boyfriend and a bunch of his space cadet friends a ride home from the beach since they were drunk... and getting pulled over, agreeing to a search (since i though there was nothing in the car, and we all had class/work..) and getting booked with 3 trafficking felonies and 4 misdemeanors. things are sorting themselves out now, it was only that bad because the kid who owned everything, jumped out of the car and ran. (fuckhead). being that I was the one who got landed in this position out of all my friends, the response was generally hysterical laughter, and the lasting nickname "escobar". wasnt funny then, but gets funnier as days pass.

Le chien aboit la caravane passe

I've started going to the Latino film festival. It's a lot of fun and people are nice. I saw "Lieutenant Castillo" who's the founder of the festival. He is so much nicer in person than as Crockett's boss smile

On Sunday I skipped the festival to go see Sonic Youth. They played in that crappy little venue, which gave it...

I love Sonic Youth.

Cheap cameras definitely give interesting distorted results sometimes. I think I've taken more interesting shots with my crappy $25 digital than with my $270 Nikon.

hehe... i got your email... that is a pretty good humbling moment. i might beat you out on it, but mines not nearly as funny, except to the people who know me.

Soiree d'horreur

I went to Artisan tonight for a press screening of Ju-on, a Japanese horror film opening in 2 weeks. This is a post-Ringu picture which borrows too heavily from Nakata Hideo who is way overrated anyway (there is currently a great deal of snobism about Japanese cinema). I didn't think it was scary at all, except for the last 10mn, but...

Aux sombres heros de l'amer..

Even though I haven't done much this weekend, I got a lot of things done. On Saturday night, saw my ex and we went to that cool art gallery/coffee house in Santa Ana. Talked to the owner and I might use the place to shoot my TV show and organize private screenings of all these films that won't be released...

hallo again.... well, as for italy....advanced schmadvanced... all i want is a country with some sense of morals. Does that sound harsh? I just feel very sad living in a country that exercises its brute power by invading 3rd world countries, taking what we need, and leaving them penniless... I feel i've lost hope. And italys got some damn good food and art. 2 of my biggest priorities.
Chuck Close is a contemporary american painter/printmaker who does large-scale portraits. He's an incredibly humble and down-to-earth guy (need I say, this is a needle in the haystack in the art community) who's always looking to help out the underdog. He woke up, in a freak occurence, paralyzed one day from the neck down, and now he paints these 10 foot tall portraits with a paintbrush contraption somehow tied to his arm every day while listening to old old old muddy waters type blues tunes. I think his presence on the whole just struck me as amazing. Look into his stuff, he's quite amazing. If you're a warhol fan esp, you can certainly appreciate him.
so what types of films are you working on right now? Where do you get your inspiration? It sounds like you are making a lot of headway lately! Does any particular producer/directors work specifically interest you? I'm not a gigantic film buff, but i know my peas from my carrots.
Now, as for this most humbling moment business.... kaguthri@edisto.cofc.edu. Curiosity killed the cat ~

I was at my day job--the boring one--and got contacted by a couple of studios about covering their latest films. I was happy thinking I have been able to reach my goals and get in that very close circle without having to kiss any butt or sleep with anybody.

I've been...

I'd like to live in Italy, France, and Northern California. Those are my top 3 right now. Then, theres Vermont (which is stunning), NYC for a small stint (but boston outweighs it), and perhaps australia. In short, i'd like to live everywhere at some point . hehe... My first trip will be copenhagen though, and i cannot wait. I'm sure ill want to live there after as well. I think we'll be visiting amsterdam, london, or part of germany in the proccess as well. The suspense is killing me.
I am a studio art and psychology major, with a possible minor in english or anthro. Havent decided on the minor yet. But i've got time on my side.
hehe, as for your journal entry, it must be quite a challenge finding real girls in the hollywood business/LA. my advice would be to venture elsewhere. Southern Cali seems like a big circus act to me, but i suppose you know better.
now what i'm curious about... what exactly is your most humbling moment?

Nothing exciting
Journee en demi-teinte
Sans joie ni gloire

Went to the Gypsy Den in Santa Ana artist village and worked on the editing of the video we shot of the Razzie Awards. Hopefully I'll be done soon as that thing has been dragging forever and I need to start working on something more exciting, that TV show.
There are some cute waitresses at that...

Its an amazing place Called the tinkertown museum. There are lots of old tinkertown installations this guy collected ( he died a few years back and his wife now runs the place)as well as assorted cool junk. The entire fun fiasco is housed in a building with walls comprised solely of glass bottles, cement and random objects.... surreal

Its about 40 min up the road from me, but I farted around since the move and just now went to see it- There is so much detail I am sure I missed that I hope to get back there before i move to Denver next month!

hi there,

I am a sucker for artsy little coffee shops. I think a large portion of my paycheck goes to kitschy little restaurants or cafes. I havent actually been outside outside the USA (Mexico and Canada dont really count).I'm going to visit a friend in Copenhagen this fall though, and we're going to bop around Europe a bit. My french is terrible, but i think it's a beautiful language....always was very difficult for me to pick up though. I'm pretty well versed in Italian and German, and Italian always messed up my french pretty horribly. I would love to travel. Places that are top on my list to visit when I'm in europe this summer are paris and florence.
You should really come visit charleston South Carolina, it's a trip. The rest of south carolina (in my new york/connecticut view) is basically worthless, but charleston has a lot of artistic weight. It's a great city. What's your favorite city anyhow?

Today I went to spend the day at the beach in San Onofre--the last trail for those who know. It was a lot of fun doing nothing and swim in the waves, as I got stuck working on my laptop on Saturday and will have to do the same thing tomorrow. My friends couldn't make so I went there by myself; the crowd was kind...

Just got back from the screening of a great film called Tarnation. More than a documentary, it's the diary of young man shot--in different formats--during a period of almost 20 years. He makes us witness his difficult life, but contrary to Capturing the Friedmans, it's highly experimental and beautiful at the same time. Gus Van Sant produced it, it won at Sundance and...

I spent the week at the Los Angeles film festival--it was a lot of fun. There was some interesting films--particularly some documentaries--and enough parties to mingle with publicists, actresses, producers, etc. There was also that director who owes me big time smile I wanted to talk to him and meet that famous actor who was with him, but their asshole agent was there and since I...

I was there both days at coachella actually. Pixies ripped it up.... definately hands down the best act of the festival. Radiohead was as usual, great too. But not the best I've seen...but Thom had a sore throat and had canceled his previous tour dates so i have to give him some credit. me and a friend got lucky and got VIP and backstage passes for both days, so it was incredible. Ive got some pictures on picturetrail.com (member name:katieguthrie) but they dont do the event justice. Moore is percieved mixed I guess. Suprisingly enough, i think he has a bigger crowd in charleston where I go to school. At least with people my age. Both my hometown (a ritzy suburbanite mecca) and my school (in the south...enough said) arent places w/huge michael moore support. How does cali compare? Considering the gargantuan debts California has been sunken into during this presidency, i'd bet a hell of a lot better....
zenntheart0103:
Yes, I am from connecticut (and yes, besides beautiful outdoor scenery, it sucks in a lot of ways.) I go to school in south carolina, so kind of on a whim i talked to my cousin about upcoming music events there (hes from the laguna area) and he told me about coachella. So after taking finals early, i grabbed a friend, a load of cash, a plane ticket, and did the west coast circuit from san diego/pb area to los angeles (and quite a bit in between) visiting friends and such for two weeks also. At the time i was working 3 jobs, and well, money burns in my hands. Its sort of odd growing up where not too many kids are into the same type of stuff, but there's always a select few. Who wants to be mainstream anyways (hehe)... I'm such a little elitist sometimes. I havent heard the new LA station, but ill definately check into it. As odd as CT is though, i dont know if i'd rather live here or LA... LA is a little too similar to a circus for me (but gone terribly wrong...too much money for too few people, extremely elitist, and well, its la-la land.) Love northern cali though. I was just overwhelmed perhaps. I see your hometown is france, what made you want to go to california?
