i dont know about the tortoises. got my camera ready for the next time i'm down the canal. they did look more tortoise than turtle, even though they were surrounded by water..
i've also seen a terrapin around there as well. perhaps a whole new ecosystem of unwanted pets is forming there..!
one of the most vivid memories of my childhood is chasing swallows in the school playing field. they would always fly low to catch insects, and we always thought we had a chance of catching one..

No worries, his mum and dad are moving at some point, but they're at that same address for at least a few more months They'll pass it on, I see them every day now with visiting Hugh in the hospital anyway!
