tonight, I took a long walk down by the Atlantic Pond, watched people feeding the ducks and walking their dogs and babies, then walked further down along the harbour to Blackrock Castle. On the way back when I sat near the pond to watch the gorgeous clouds in the sky (nothing quite like an island in the Atlantic in the summer for cool clouds), I...

Blackrock castle? Thats Cork isnt it, I should really know that. Hello by the way.
badjon:
I should know blackrock castle because I'm Irish, but have an abysmal knowledge of my own country - probably from living in Derry for ages. Im originally from Westmeath, and have been itching to go back and see it, but I'm in Manchester now, and its a bugger finding the time. Its certainly a beautiful part of the world you live in!
apparently, God decided 35 was the age I should start getting hangovers.

ha ha fixer. that's funny that you know sean.

I'm going out tonight for dinner with 25 friends, taking over the dining room of this little trattoria run by a family of brothers from Italy, cooking like their mama taught them. Then off for drinks at a newish bar called Cleavers, which used to be a butcher shop.
I think I managed to invite all my current crushes, so I should be in flirty...

happy birthday love!
another successful cooking experiment tonight. Tesco had a 50% off sale on round steak, but I don't have a crockpot or dutch oven to braise it in, so I went the creole steak route.
heat some oil in a skillet, brown a chopped green pepper and onion then transfer to a big pot. cut .5-1kg of round steak into pieces, roll in a flour &...

I borrowed a friend's boxed set of the Godfather Trilogy last week, and it occured to me I have never tried Clemnza's recipe for pasta sauce. So tonight, I did.
Perfection.

anything i can do, just let me know.
I need to write about my friends here, like Andrew and Tom and Kimberley and Natalie. I need to write about the nutters who I laugh at and with and almost get in fights with and for. I need to write about the work coming and going and potentials for work. I need to write about the begrudgery of Cork and how hard it is...

damn, that was a fun party. I love partying with dancers/strippers/callemwhatyouwill...it was Kimberley's birthday, and of course whe brought a bunch of the ladies to the club, which was a hip hop/roots night...they arrived late, as streiipers are wont to do, and by then we were well oiled. I didn't know any of her friends, but they took to me like a bat outta hell....

temptess, you can't expect to see *everything* on just one weekend in Cork!
temptess:
Ohhh, big daddy, if you can help me out at ALL on this one, i will certainly owe you BIG TIME!
I might just be saved. While hunting for the investors (which the founder said he had lined up but is talking out of his inexperienced arse), I was going to be needing some consulting work to pay the bills. I started to spread the word, and within the day, have 2 good leads. Neither are until next week, but one is in Dublin with one...

another grand day in Dublin yesterday. Went to the horse track for the day in a private suite with a company who wants my business. They are good guys to go on the piss with, and after the track, we put that to the test. A pub in Temple Bar for a few scoops, then off to a blues club. SOme drunken asshole almost got...

Had a great night out in Dublin last night. D1 Records hosts some good Detroit style parties here, and Paris of The Detroit Grand Pubahs was here last night. Small basement club with brick walls, you know it was a sweatbox. I haven't danced like that since, well, since the last D1 night I was here for, with DJ Bone.

feeling a bit better about moving there?
fixer:
yeah, a lot better. It's quite a shift back to city life, and there is no way I can be a slacker there, so the business will have to be in place. but I am looking forward to it now!
it's looking like I'll be moving to Dublin for work. I've been consulting for a new wireless isp startup, and they now have the line on the investor to allow them to start up. Seeing as how there's not much money flowing in Cork, I'm going to sell my soul to Dublin for a while, see how I get on.

Cork is a grand city, but if you must go to the whore on the liffey, than best of luck to you. At least you won't have to travel far to get to Lansdown Road come the next six nations.
jessica:
Wow, how exciting! Then again, you already live in Ireland so it's not as exciting as if you were here, moving there, but still!
