I had something of a nauseating, ego-obliterating weekend.

It's cliche and predictable, but...
never will I drink again.

It was strange.
A week ago an old friend of mine who I hadn't kept in touch with for a while leaves a message inviting me to his wedding.
This is pretty shocking because the guy is the perennial bachelor skirt chasing debaucher.
Let's call him E....

Are you feeling betrayed by the I Ching thread in PInball Wizards? I think it's valid. . .but couched in a non-traditional setting. Why not get it rolling?

Crazy. The last sentence is my favorite. wink Karmic justice, indeed. Meanwhile, Christ Almighty...dude sounds like a sociopath.

Glad you aren't (hugs and respect).

I'm a huge david lynch fan... I have eraserhead on dvd. =) I also liked mullholand drive a lot.

I thought that "Naked Lunch" was really good, but most people seem to disagree with that opinion. Unless you realize that William S. Burrows was an opiate addict, I guess the film really doesn't make much sense... however, I didn't know much about Burrows' life going into the movie, and I was able to figure out what was going on pretty easily. Oh well, some people just don't "get it". =) I also thought that the film had one of the best endings of any movie I've seen.... everything tied together, but not in a way that I was expecting, and without beating the audience over the head, nor leaving them confused.

I have not, however, heard of Robert Altman. Based on your previous suggestions, though, I will definitely check him out. =)

I had lunch with some co-workers. It was at a place across the street, "Chiefs - burgers and brew".
They served beer but I only had a diety coke with meatloaf and mashed potatoes, though. Quite a few things we talked about and martinis was one of them.

Then coming home after work I stopped by a supermarket. They had just refurbished the floors and...

hello. heard about the chainsaw jugglers but didn't see them. Venice is dirty and full of trogs. I only went there to find Harry Perry. I've wanted to meet him for many years.

Well I just went through over a years worth of journal entries back until I got to:
Best of SG Journal Vol I

That first "best of" I did because I was going to cancel my sub here but I wanted to somehow summarize and keep the "good stuff".

Looking back I'd say the first "best of" is much more solid than the last year's....

Gah...I remember traipsing through quite a few of those. I don't scroll back to my old stuff as much as I used to. Maybe after the break you can just keep on movin' forward, sweet 1.

So the trip...

Here's my blatantly judgemental comparison of Portland vs San Diego:

- Powells vs Bookstar and SD Technical Books combined
a total KO, Powells is the mother of all bookstores

- humidity vs dryness
I don't like to sweat too much

- beards vs suntans
I had enough sunlight already

- being laid back vs appearing laid back
I think by now it'll...

Donating gave me the willies as well. My veins in that area or not overly friendly and often decietful (the ones you can see are hard to get and the best one is not vissible but you can feel it pump) so i have to tell the person where the best one is and then I have to tell them don't talk about what they are doing or I will pass out.

A good night's sleep, a hot shower and up early in the morning can make a big difference.

I'll be doing some rental-car exploring around the pacific northwest over the weekend.

My travel here inspired these late night scribblings on hotel stationary:

The sun bleaches away the color
the sound of gravel, dust
a rigid pole in a lot
a sign, "The story of Now"
you've got your head wrapped in cellophane
you get used to the tension
the more you see the more you sweat

drifting down
underwater in a pool, looking up
the leaves...

This is a quick journal update.
I have 3 minutes and ticking on the hotel pay-for-internet-access thing.

Highlights:
airport inspection makes you feel like a prisoner.
First flight was late, but then second connecting one was too so it worked out.
An amazingly hot, hungry and tiring day.
Checked out a little bit of portland nightlife and saw the lovely Lux and a glance at...

If the blur of gut-dropping churning moments, inexplicable impulses, reliefs and failures of the previous week weren't there then the corresponding staring into the screen trying to make sense of it all moments wouldn't be necessary either.

It's a decompression ritual of searching, editing, imagining.
Then finally this is the slow inconspicuous dribble output of it all.

Hey man, sorry I haven't tagged you up sooner. Things are very busy for me right now. My company is basically tripling in size this month and everything is a little bonkers.

When it calms down a little I'd love to grab some coffee.

Hope all is well.
