i'm in a similar boat. quit my job a month ago now and am still without prospects. am coping with my depression a lot better than i usually do though. i've applied to study music industry but i don't find out til january, and if i get in i don't start til march.
i definitely believe you should seek volunteer placement, i recommend to anyone that has enough time. there is so much out there and it is always rewarding. much better than that inactive slob feeling.

When I go back to my tiny home town (roughly 9000 people) I really miss the vibe, but I also remember how much of a pain in the ass was High School for a guy like me who didn't like hunting in an hunting world.
Nevertheless, Montreal suits me for the option to not be there it offers, but there's a lack of sharing that is trully obvious in my case.
