I have two medium-sized bones to pick with people on this site right now. Well, not even bones, just, annoyances. And I'm passive aggresive, so rather than try to resolve my issues, I'm going to write about them in my journal.
Number one: Okay, we all (girls at least) know about those friend requests we get from random-arsed boys who we've never even heard of. We all deal with them in different ways...my general policy is to visit their page, then, if they look stupid and boring I'll just decline, if they look vaguely interesting I'll comment in their journal in an attempt to find out why the fuck they think they should be my friend. It's rare that anything comes of this, further confirming the fact that random friend requests are indeed as superficial as they seem. Anyway, point being, I got a request from someone a day or two ago, and he did indeed look interesting, so I posted in his journal, just some random shit, you know, "you look interesting, what's going on, blahdeblah." So then for whatever reason I revisited his page today only to find the he DELETED MY COMMENT!!!!! What the fuck is that? Bitch. No friend for him. I mean, he is a noob, but come on.

Number two: there is a member out there who I kow in real life, totally independent of the site. We're not exactly on the best of terms right now, he's not a friend or anything, but every once in awhile I visit his page just to check up on him and I have no doubt he does the same to me (meaning he'll probably read this. whatever ) Anyway, he has of course filled out his dating profile, 'cause he does shit like that. And in said profile, he claims to be drug-free. Ummmmmmm.......yeah. Unless he's made a major life change in the last month or so, this is very much not the case. why would you lie about something like that? I mean, admittedly, he is notoriously paranoid about the internet...but if he actually expects to meet someone through this, how's he gonna explain that that little inconsistency? Huh?

1) I learned this weekend that it is always best to be nice to people, because you never know when you might run into them again. Yes, yes, I should have picked that up in kindergarten, and for the most part I'm a darling, but I do have some bad habits like honking and throwing the bird when I'm driving even if it's not /really/ deserved, and of being snotty to salespeople when they're not as helpful and shit like that. I really should be a more peaceful person.
But that's not the point. Point is, this Saturday I went on the Rogers Park Art Walk. It was very cool, nice to see what's going on in the community, and hopefully I've found a studio out of it. So anyway, we were in this one little storefront space shared by a a female 2-D artist and a male sculptor. I was being pretty quiet, just looking around, when I caught the sculptor's eye and realized that I knew him from somewhere. He kind of smirked at me, but I couldn't be sure if it was because he recognized me too or if he just thought I was weird.
So we leave, and I'm walking down the street and I finally figure out where I know him from. I'm convinced that he's this guy I hung out with when I was in LA this spring, the husband of a friend of a friend of my ex-girlfriend. (Complicated, yes.) But I remembered suddenly chatting with him about how he lived in Roger's Park (he was out there visiting his wife, who was doing some short-term production job.) I couldn't remember either of their names, but I did remember that the wife was originally from Monaco. So I said to myself, "Self, you're going to go back there and say to him 'I know this is a weird question, but is your wife from Monaco?'" He would frown and be really confused and then I would explain and we would chuckle about it and it would be cute. So I told my companion that I'd figured it out, and he said "I think he was married to the other artist." I frowned and decided he must be wrong.
So we went back, and I didn't see the guy but the girl was around and the space was empty besides her. So I say to her (after reminding her that we'd been there before) "The other artist isn't your husband, is he?" As she's nodding, probably wondering if I've come back to ask him on a date, a disembodied voice come, Oz-like, from behind a curtain: "i'm also a professional mover."
And then it all came clear. The week before I'd used this great company called Starving Artists to move out of my apartment (If you're in Chicago, you should use them. They're cheap and don't fuck up too much and are actually interesting people, not big burly men with bad grammar) and he was one of my movers. And as soon as I realized that I started thinking "Shit! I was in a really crap mood that day. I'll bet I was, at some point, really nasty to them, not because they'd done anything wrong but because I was a great big stress ball and every time I looked at my watch it was more money going away that I don't even have in the first place." But he was a total prince and we sat around and chatted for a good fifteen minutes, really not about moving at all but about art and travelling and other good stuff. And I really liked them and I want to be friends with them. So they have our email addresses and hopefully they'll write soon. I think I have a couple-crush. It's like those friend-crushes you have in 6th grade on that girl with the really cool hair who isn't like all popular or anything but you're still kind of intimidated by her and you just want her to sit next to you at the lunch table.

That is all for now. I also have a continued rant about this dating thing (hence the numbering of the topics) but I guess I'll have to save it for later because I have to go walk some doggies now.

kiss

Well, I only applied like, a week ago. The whole references thing seemed kind of wierd to me, but I guess it makes sense.
People are wierd. Deleting comments? Wacky.
