There is a product out called soft paws. Unfortantly only a vet can put them on..it also saves your funiture too. I know it doesn't take long either ask them about it next time you go in but they are a life saver here at my house Also Trimming them doesn't help actually (groomer talking) it shortens them but doesn't stop the scratching
