Trying to transfer degrees? If that's what you want to do fight tooth and claw for it. I did my first degree at the behest of my family; I don't like to think how many years I've wasted not doing what I really want to.
Funny enough in my case what I'm now working towards is my psychology degree. I'm totally fascinated by the mind, how I work and how other work and think. One of the things I do is volunteer for an organisation that means I get to see up close how people work, how the depression and mental illness affect the world and how I can try to help.

As for your farther, Sorry I know that he's your dad and all but he does sound like a totally manipulative dick. I've dealt with to many of them. As you get older you do find it easier to tell people to go fuck themselves (that whole fun think of being able to love someone while hate them at the same time) and still be okay with yourself.
