One of my cooks burned himself about as bad as I have ever seen someone burn themselves. From the second knuckle to the mid forearm with hot oil. He wrapped it up and kept working. He barely winced when sticking his hand over the broiler to turn a steak. I tried to cover his station but he pretty much kicked me off. That is a...

Sorry I missed that meet up. I got the message a bit too late...Here's to the next one!

I burned myself in the kitchen at work this week too. Nothing that serious tho. I managed to spill boiling gravy over the back on my hand cos I'm a retard.
So I actually met another SG member last night. Blueink777 and I hung out at the Double Down for a while. Super cool guy. I got my ass kicked at work last night so I didn't last long. Also ran into a couple of people I hadn't seen in a couple of years. I hate the lag between when you see them and when you...

I was supposed to be at the Double Down las tnight but the FUCKING Anut and Uncle showed up in town. Had to spend the night drinking with them. (damn family values.)
jora:
Thanks for your kindness, but I just can't be in the group. I don't have it in me to fight anymore. I just want to drink and go to sleep. Again, thanks.
I took my dog charlie hiking with a couple of guys and their dogs. The terrain was limestone and it was rough like sandpaper. By the time we reached the summit my dog's paws were bloody. The other dogs were used to it so it was no problem for them. By the time we were half way down charlie refused to go any farther. We...

Well, I headed down to The Double Down. The place is as scummy, trashy and cool as ever. I meet DickVegas there. Very cool. Dick has to teach me that sobriety concept.
I had a couple girls I know show up also. One by one they came drunk, already!
<Dickvegas> the girls loved your glasses!
As I figured, not many SG locals showed up. I am talking about the 21 over crowd.
But part of going out to these planned drinking things, is to promote SG Site to people that dont know it exists. Las Vegas is an untapped SG market.
It was a bad night to plan anything on a Thursday. But, we had a good time.
As for carding @ the door: yes they do. Even the Double Down has Business Ethics.
But anyone can always try to sneak in, like I had to when I was 16.
SGVEGASWe live in Vegas, lots of places to meet and plan bigger events.
Cooler Lounge Friday 9th Night maybe?
Or my favorite Larrys Villa
Unfortunately for the younger members, ID is required at both establishments. Why, I have no idea. Maybe we can plan a Scandia night.
Ive been talking to SGmembers planning to visit Las Vegas. Just give me heads up when coming out.
Until Friday..Blueink777

Somehow, I don't think any Keller restaurant will be as spectacular if he isn't in the kitchen. They'll still be damn good, though.

I went to Anguilla last May. It was unbelievable. I didn't know the Caribbean was actually that shade of blue. I'd always thought they used special filters to get that effect. The best thing about Anguilla, other than the people who are so amazing, is the food. The island is building quite a reputation. Bon Appetit did an article a few years back (that is what sparked my interest) as far as restaurants to visit. We were not dissappointed. A lot of well known chefs are working on the island now, I guess. I highly recommend it. Plus, the beaches are pristine and when I went in May (off season) some days I would see only 5 or 6 other people on the beach all day long. I can't wait to go back.
OK, That didn't work, I have a headache and a cup of cofee next to me this morning. Didn't even get a lousy nap. Didn't do alot though. Still have to take down the Christmas decorations. I don't want to be the last guy on the block with christmas lights out. Once I was living in a house where there was a drug raid (I...

A guy that once worked for me had told his doctor that he was going to try to quit the caffiene. The doctor said to ease out of it, not go cold turkey.
I've got a job, sort-of. On-call banquet cook working for the PGA. Actually had to take a drug test and a psychological test. Guess which one I was worried about not passing.

Thanks for the info. I had been looking at the Palms and the Bellagio so I guess I was on the right track. And of course we'd have to go to the Hole in the Wall.
I am definitely guilty of leaving the decorations up too long. Problem is I usually cut my own tree and I feel guilty taking it down while it is so green and isn't loosing needles. Unfortunately somtimes that doesn't happen until the end of February. I'm such a sap.

I am seriously going to try to do nothing today. Whatever I do end up doing is going to be done verrry slowwly. I'm actually going to try to consume no caffiene today. Good luck to me. I already feel like taking a nap with my cats

Cats are good like that...napping that is. I wish you luck!

GOOD LUCK. I know I cannot go with out my Caffine. I have a refrig next to the bed so when I wake up I have a Mt. Dew before I go to the shower.
Even though it's the second it didn't feel like a new year until today. I think I finally caught up on some rest today. Felt motivated and optimistic. I think I'm just glad the holiday's are over. Now to figure out what I'm gonna do in the next couple of months. Hmmm. Hang out here I guess.

Hey! I've been meaning to ask you...if you were going to visit Las Vegas for the first time...what would you do and where would you stay? Just wondering...I've come into a little cash and I'm kicking around a few ideas.

Hello new friend.
Happy New Years everybody. Watch for me live from the Las Vegas strip.
shiva8:
Happy 2004!! Hope everything was swell. Any interesting resolutions?
wonderpants:
Thanks, man! Thank You for all your help, words and work, it's made a big difference this year
Happy New Year
I hate getting riled up on my day off by stupid shit at work. I have to defend the radio in my kitchen to the front of the house manager who NEVER listens to any kind of music. I think there is a part of his soul missing. I found a couple of articles online that defend music in the workplace but I shouldn't have...

I love dogs. I've got cats now, but whenever I go to visit my parents and see their shepheard and husky I wish I could get one. The problem is, I'm just not home enough and if I get a dog I want to be able to be there for it. At least your dogs have each other for company when you are not around. Someday, especially if I ever have kids, I'll have a dog...kids have got to have dogs...it's a law.
Any big party plans for tonight?
Have a great one!! I'm off for Madison...the best place to be in Wisconsin for New Year's.

I've been thinking about how people are funny about thier names. Some of my relatives call me Ricky, some Rick, Most people call me Richard, There is a group that call me Dick, mostly people who worked with me in radio. I've had bosses that called me Richie. People I work with call me Chef, even outside work. I've gotten a couple of memos from...

How was your holiday?!
shiva8:
I know what you mean about lack of yoga. I haven't been practicing as I would like, but I'm trying to atleast get in to the required reading for my training. Right now I'm focusing on outlining the written parts of "Light on Yoga" so that they stick in my head better. Looking forward to the regular schedule.
Sorry about your back! How many dogs do you have?

merry christmas from the whole baxter clan!
Right in the middle of my break. Trying to find a balance between relaxation and the chaos of the holiday season. Traffic is crazy. Too much to do in too little time, plus I want to do the things I usually can't when I am working at night, like hit yoga classes or meetings I always hear about but can never go to. I'm hittin'...

Thanks for the encouragement. I hope you're right.
Enjoy your relaxation the next few days! Tomorrow I'm off for the Great White North. My parents have 8 inches of snow in Eau Claire; we have nada in Milwaukee...kind of looking forward to the white stuff. That whole Bing Crosby White Christmas and all -- I'm a sucker for that. HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY!!
