So the new Lucero record, That Much Further West, is fucking incredible and you should all go out and buy it tomorrow. Those kids need money for whiskey and gasoline.

I was going to write a critical essay on the hows and whys of the burgeoning of the current alt-country-indie-southern-rock movement, but, fortunately for all of you, I'm having a bit of an off...

Is Lucero Son Volt-esque/have hints of the JayHawks? Or do they lean more towards twangy, old-school country? Definitely interested in checking them out.

Yesterday at work we noticed that a customer had a tattoo on the back of his head. His hair was cropped just short enough to show it off.

So my associate and I began to talk about it after a while. And we realized some... interesting things about a head tattoo. Now, keep in mind that I certainly don't have one, and I don't think...

I am pretty sure I'll be there. Are people bringing non SG members? I don't know anyone from SG personally and I'd feel kinda weird coming alone. What kind of food should I bring? Hmmm, i think I'll go eat something I'm kinda hungry.

way to rock that exam, I didn't think they could move the dates like that. Are you done for the semester?

So Friday night my friend Alison, who goes to Tennessee, came into town for the SEC championship game. She and I went to Taco Cabana for a few beers and then headed to Dantanas to meet up with our crew. It was like a weird highschool reunion; only two of the kids there didn't go to high school with me. It was very, very weird...

Hey man - thanks for the birthday wishes. I had a rough start, but a great finish, and the girl spoiled me.

Ah, John Lee - I think I only have "Boom Boom", and I'm sure I have more of his material on some blues compilations - but what a tremendous talent. I should really crank out some blues records - because I think lately, I'm entitled to 'em.

I need to start a band. smile

Tonight I went to a mexican restaurant, had tacos and drinks, and then headed to scenic East Atlanta to attend a show at The Earl. Entrance, whom I had seen opening for The Yeah Yeah Yeahs about a year ago, was opening for Travis Morrison of the late, great Dismemberment Plan.

Entrance was fucking incredible for three songs. He broke a string on the second...

At least that guy didn't follow you just to make his flacid statement. Back when I was a smoker, I apparently tossed a cigarette butt on a guy's windshield. I didn't mean to do it and I agree that it could be shitty. But he followed me for like five miles until he got the chance to pull up beside me and yell "You fucking asshole!"

The light hadn't changed yet, so I leaned out the window, looked around, and said "Dude, you already went through the effort to follow me. Why not just go all the way and try to scare the shit out of me. That was fucking weak."

I was in high school then, so I believe I could have done a lot better than that now.

Dunno yet, but I'll have something. Monday is day before I fly. No good.

So last Saturday was, as expected, a shitty day at work. I wanted to go see Drive By Truckers that evening, but I couldn't get off early. Bah. But one of the funniest things I've ever seen at work happened on Saturday. We had a customer come in and rail against our mere 30 day return policy and complain because we would only give hima...

Thanksgiving was a'ight. Ate a lot, watched some crappy football, the usual. I was quite happy that politics didn't come up (because I've lost the ability to not be nasty and condecending on that subject), instead overshadowed by
a more current and important controversy. (Anyone who doesn't understand hasn't spent nearly enough time in the south.)

I went home and knocked myself out at...

I worked at Toys R Us during the whole Tickle me Elmo thing. Nothing brightened my day like middle aged housewives duking it out for a retarded plush toy.

Other than that it sucked.

Ah, Thanksgiving: the day where I celebrate the solemnity of my Puritan ancestors by engaging in senseless glutony. Awesome.

Plymouth Colony, bitches! Oh, and if you have time, stop by Flux's journal and remind her that my Puritan sect is totally better than hers. What's pressing a few farmers to death compared to widespread exploitation of the natives? Plus, her's was responsible for, 150...

I'm tired as hell.

Last night at work Sprint kept fucking up this guy's activation. I mean over and over. By the time everything was finally done, he'd been in the store for two and a half hours and it was 9:50. That's almost an hour after we close, kids.

So, naturally, after a stressful day at work and after the realization that I had...

Well,, today was exciting.

I actually made it to spanish today. Afterwards I met up with Luke in the courtyard. He was hanging out with this girl named Kara ("Hi, I'm Kara; I drive a Caravan!) who Alia had bitched about to me at length (because of the whole Caravan thing). Afterwards, Luke, Nick and I went to see
The end Of The Century,...

I love psychobilly, but it's hard to find good psychobilly bands.

I went to a rockabilly show here in town about a year and a half ago. There were three or four bands on the bill, and one of them was this one-man act called Bloodshot Bill. He had a guitar and a bass drum, and he just sat there on stage ripping the hell out of his guitar and kicking the shit outta that drum. He had the weirdest voice I've ever heard from a singer, though - really high and nasal. Buddy could sing anyway. He kept spitting huge gobs of chew out on the stage between lines. The guy was fucking hardcore.

One of the other acts was pure country, and bad country at that. Bill gave the guy such a disgusted look I swore he was gonna climb back up onstage and shitkick him. I would have paid extra to see that.

Today at work I had the pleasure of dealing with several people who, because we wouldn't replace free of charge items that they had owned for 8 months and then broken, declared that they would no longer shop at Radioshack. I'm honestly surprised that such people would even request free things, since handouts are the bastion of bleeding heart liberals. Man, I fucking hate Alpharetta....

So, lately I've been talking to an ex of mine again. I saw her at the show last night and we decided to hang out tonight. So I rode the train downtown to the school lofts to meet up with her tonight. We then headed to Alumni Hall to see a musical.

Let me preface the rest of the story with this: you know how...

Your take on that play is oddly similar to my take on the movie Zabriskie Point. Only I got to see it for free, and at least the landscapes were cool.
