Here's a recap of my experience with Billy Corgan's solo recording and concert. I was assigned the final day of the recording sessions. I think this was good because after reading Billys posts on the previous ones, he had worked through whatever qualms he was having about working in front of a crowd. He was recording in a former church that has been converted into...

Omigod. I am a lucky bastard. As some or none of you may know, Billy Corgan is currently recording a solo album. He decided a little while ago to allow a small number of fans to come watch him working in the studio. He posted recently that the first 120 people at the Metro this morning would be able to go next week. I was...

Ah...our first shitty show. There's a really cool club here called Subterranean. I saw Jucifer there a while ago. It's an awesome old building that used to be a brothel in the 20's and still has a nice art deco feel to it. I saw on their website that they do open mics there on Mondays. We were going to play there last week but...

I'm now a manager at PETsMART. I still don't see myself as management material, but whatever. I'm making better money now than I ever have in my life. I've only been there two days going through these books that are basically a scavenger hunt for crap in the store. It's really slow going and boring at times but I think the actual job will be...

We have scrapped our entire band. This sucks. A few months ago I was all excited that we finally found a drummer, bassist, and second guitarist. The drummer left a while ago and the other two have been booted because they weren't showing up for practice. It's a relief to get rid of the dead weight but it's also annoying that we have to start...

most people write their best song when they feel like shit

i'm pretty sure i'm gonna go to chicago and see jet play!
i love those aussies.

what kind of music do you play??
deadguyperez:
I really love loud, distorted, spacey, melodic stuff but I also have come up with some good melancholic acoustic songs. It's kinda funny...most of the stuff I write is either sad or angry but I'm neither.

Let me know if you want to hang out if you come to Chicago.

Hurrah. We have a bassist. Now we just need some keys. I'm hoping we're gonna have our shit together to start playing some shows this winter. I entered us into the SG Burlesque Tour. I never got confirmation that it went through and nobody will let me know if we are entered so hopefully we don't get screwed.

thanks

We now have a drummer. Chris met this guy at a frame shop and we asked him over Tuesday. We weren't convinced at first but he did well tonight so we asked him to join. He knows a keyboardist that may be interested and Ryan and I are auditioning a bassist on Sunday. Things are finally coming together. Hopefully we'll get all of our songs...

Like to hear how the band is going and if you need anymore areas filled and what area you are. I may be able to hook you up with some people.
deadguyperez:
I play guitar -- mostly rhythm. We still need a bassist and keyboardist.

I am in my final year of being single. In one year from today, Melissa and I will be married. It feels so far away, yet right around the corner. That girl drives me nuts sometimes but I love her to death and my life would be incomplete without her.

congrats!

that was so sweet to read.

So my dad had a heart attack this weekend. He was working at the UF library when he collapsed and woke up on a gurney. Luckily, the university has a good hospital there. It seems like he's gonna be ok but he has a lot of crap clogging up his pipes. It's weird because up until the past couple months, he was exercising twice a...

He seems to be doing ok now. He's a stubborn sumbitch, though. Hopefully he'll listen to his docs.

We're playing show #3 at Filter in Wicker Park on 10/9 at 9pm. We're going to try out more new material, which I'm looking forward to. I'm already tired of acoustic sets. I so want to complete this band and get on with more important stuff. I've pretty much decided to skip getting my Master's so I can put more time and effort into the...

Just got back from God-like Creatures' second show at a Border's open mic nite. We were on last, so most everyone had already left. My family came to see us but they got tired of waiting and all left early. Fuckers. We screwed up a little but playing out helps show you what you have to work on.

Melissa and I had a good time...

Melissa, Chris (brother), and I went to see Radiohead last night. It was friggin' awesome! The suck part was that they couldn't come play Chicago...y'know...the third biggest city in the country? No. Instead, they opted for East Troy, WI in the middle of fuckin' nowhere and I had to drive through God knows how many cornfields to get there. It was a pretty decent ampitheatre...
