The other night I listened to someone sing,

"Darkness is the only thing I know..."

while I stared at Christmas lights blinking in sync.

It's all so beautiful and mismatched, isn't it.

Ok, slackers. A special "thank you" to trilobyte, Llona, and Clara for trying to answer my question. For my part, Sunday and Monday songs are the best. Johnny Cash's "Sunday Morning Coming Down," "Sundays" sung by Lucinda Williams, and "Sunday (is nobody's business but mine)" by Tift Merrit are my favorite leave-me-alone or looking-up-from-the-bottom-of-the-bottle type of Sunday song. The music of the Sundays...

Ok, so I don't have much time, but I'll tell you this:
I was listening to the radio a couple days ago. Central NC's commercial radio is flacid at best, but we are very fortunate to have great college radio. I was listening to WXDU, where I use to DJ. (It's a longer story to explain why I DJ'd at a Duke hosted radio...

Well, the Cure's Friday I'm In Love kind of covers it all, really, if you count the lyrics and not just the title. I'm also big on U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday and New Order's Blue Monday.

Fortunately, sir, your wishes didn't come through. Birthday was the best ever, and in fact festivities were still going on the next morning - I think I finally wrapped things up after 8am. Dark lord that I am, I managed to drink my face off and avoid a hangover too, so woohoo for me...

What's been going on. So, I haven't been journaling much, but I still love you people. Not all of you, but probably the ones reading this. Especially, one of you, sneaky.

Anyway, thoughts of SG...

speaking from experience here... i grew up in nc (wilmington) - and have moved between ca and nc 3 times now - now make my home in ca (bay area/sf/peninsula) - all i gotta say is the proverbial "the grass is always greeer" - well unless you live in california, were the grass is only green in april and may - then it gets brown - but anyway - yeah, tons of shit to do out here - but I must say, don't come here for the women... stay back east...

SG Burlesque is tomorrow night here in NC. I'm looking forward to it, and hanging out with some SGNC-ers whom I have never met, and a couple I have. Anyway, I've devoted a fair amount of time in this journal to reviewing live music: not strenuously or deeply, but in a fun and informative way. Does anyone enjoy reading about these things? Should I look...
