Re: Miers, I'm vaguely down on the whole thing because I'm still idealistic/dumb enough to think that, y'know, maybe it would be a good idea to have genuinely competent people in these positions. Apparently that is not as high a priority in Bushworld as I had thought. Too bad. Wish I could say it were a surprise.

My personal guess is that hypnosis works for people who are willing to be hypnotized, and that it can achieve some genuinely interesting results, particularly when it comes to suggestibility and stimulation of memory (note that this does not say anything about the accuracy of the stimulated memories, just that the technique probably works to trigger them).
But when it comes to past life, well, my BS alarm starts blaring pretty loudly, especially when the Convincing Details are so easily faked.
