So damn interesting, I just had to post it:

"A duplicate universe, trapped in a computer:
Consortium of scientists simulates 'cube of creation'"

by Tim Radford, science editor
from The Guardian

Scientists have recreated a vast segment of the universe inside a computer and written a brief history of time, black holes and galaxy formation.

The Millennium Simulation - the biggest exercise of its kind...

So do you know how to detect when someone's lying to you?

Odds are, you'll never know. Most people are horrible lie detectors. I studied this subject briefly in my Psychology of Emotion class, and we watched video footage of people who were telling the truth and footage of others who were lying and trying to cover it up. The majority of my class, including...

i think people who lie and do well at it have inflammed self-preservation instincts and care less about those they are harming and deceiving and more about saving their own ass...so much so, that they can convince themselves (with some concentration) that they are telling (distorted somewhere and then blocked out as) the truth...i don't like this because they are thus also dishonest with themselves and out of touch with reality...along with the no blinking thing, there also seems to be an extra intensity (perhaps the needed "block-out" focus/concentration) to what they are saying when they lie (...all this " they", like i've never lied...)

Here's an interesting psychology article by a well-known psychologist regarding the "kindness of strangers"... People's willingness to help someone during a chance encounter on a city street varies considerably around the world!

people are nice in rio, it's ture, and in every else in the world, and i don't know if i buy new yorkers, l.a. etc. are less helpful/friendly/welcoming becasue they have been scamed because there are a lot of scam artists elsewhere too...or because its more crowded (i went to san paulo, brazil and people were wonderful and its one of the most dendely populated and has one of the highest crime rates around) i think it's becuse we are busier (work) and socially more akward with strangers.

Wow... 4 days... that was the longest I've been away from this site. I'm trying not to be as addicted to the internet as I usually am, cuz I haven't been getting things done that I need to get done lately. I'll just be around a little less... but I'll always come back! kiss

I'll leave you with this:

Yeah, SG is pretty addictive and time consuming. I end up procrastinating a lot of work, fiddling around with this stuff, unfortunately. This can be very dangerous!

As a psych major, I've learned about all sorts of "abnormal" behaviors and disorders, and just when I thought that I couldn't possibly come across any more strange disorders, I came across synesthesia. This rare condition is utterly and completely fascinating. It defies all sense of logic and seems almost beneficial to those who have it. As an artist, I'm jealous that I don't...

I cried the whole way home from art class tonight. Once I started crying, I just couldn't stop... I was fucking bawling my damn eyes out. So much for those fucking anti-depressants. They aren't fucking working lately. DAMMIT.

I was already in a foul mood cuz of shit I talked about with my therapist earlier in the day, and then I just got so sad...

I wish I could help. Sorry.

But I wanted to say thanks for the add. I appreciated the article, too. This should be extra interesting as I am involved with someone who is going through a major jealousy tirade right now over nothing. It's completel-- for lack of a better word-- crazy. I haven't quite finished it, as it's kind of long, but have read enough to where I won't be able to look at her the same this evening.

Check out the new article I posted in my journal. Let me know what you think.

Anyway, I hope you're gonna be OK.

Thanks again for the add.

P.S.- I love talking about art. Next time I'll send some links. Adios.

So what color do YOU LIKE? My favorite color's red, and the description is very accurate. hehe.

The Colors of Sex

The clothes you wear, your home furnishings and the car you drive all give clues to your sexual personality. The key is the colors you...

I'm listening to the Weakerthans' "Watermark" and these couple of lines jumped out at me:

How your body still remembers things you told it to forget -
How those furious affections followed you...
I've got this store-bought way of saying I'm okay,
and you learned how to cry in total silence...

Isn't that the truth. Can you ever really forget people with whom you've been...

nice. this guy (Don Hertzfeldt, the writer/animator) went to my school (UCSB) when i was there and everybody used to love/hate him because he would make these brilliant animated movies (including the original "Bitter" film "L'Amour", which was hilarious) in like these intro freshman film classes that were supposed to be just exercises and we were all just exploring and making shit. He was not only winning all the awards at our school with his stuff, he was winning like academy awards and entering them at Sundance and Cannes and shit...anyway, thought you might enjoy that, i really enjoyed the comics too (reminded me of Matt Groening/Life in Hell)
