so, two nights each week, the kickboxing school has jiu-jitsu classes... not traditional jiu-jitsu, more like mixed-martial-arts (MMA) groundfighting classes. i'm pretty familiar with this style of combat from cross-training with my original instructor, but i have been out of the loop for the last few years.

rock on! at least i know that cosmo is good for something other than teaching women to bag the richest alpha male in the pack. i for one can't read their dating advice without getting depressed for the state of the world because it always seems to boil down to stuff about playing hard to get so he won't think you're a slut, letting a guy think he's right when you know he's wrong, and if all else fails... tell him how big and strong he is. is that all men really want to hear? i for one like to hope humanity has moved beyond such crap... but my refusal to accept it may be why i'm single.

i have decided to blame the way i treat my girlfriend (when we are alone) entirely on my Mom and the fact that our apartment was filled with abandoned issues of COSMO that i read all throughout my adolescence.

thankfully, i also had punk rock and the martial arts to make me, at least, manly enough that i could even get a girlfriend.
