So apparently I'm back. According to SG my account was reactivated by one of my friends, so would the half dozen or so of you who still lurk in these waters show yourselves, otherwise I'm going to assume SG pulled a cheap one on me and reactivated on their dime. Cute marketing idea.

Looks like the site hasn't changed much since I last came around,...

los angeles is on fire...

whenever there are fires in the hills surrounding los angeles, if the wind is just right the ash and smoke settle into the city where i live. you can smell it everywhere, the thick stench of burning. the sun filters through the haze and becomes orange as it strikes the city. its all very ominous... the deep orange sunlight, the...

good for you though.. and good luck on quitting smoking!
dryad:
the tobacco companies hace actually hired women to complicate men's lives so they can't quit smoking. It's a very long and intricate plan.

I spent the better part of Monday night lounging around Times Square in New York City. The tension anticipating the election is thick and fierce, and I would KILL to in Times Square when they call the election Monday night.

Instead, I'll be back in Los Angeles watching it all unfurl on a big-screen TV.

One way or another, it's going to be an extraordinary...

The Subtleties of Sound

It's funny, I haven't been back home in ages. When you're back in the place you grew up, you suddenly hear things again. Sounds you'd forgotten that you'd grown up listening to.

The sound of a train passing through town, its loud and rude chug breaking through the night sky, throbbing.

The sound of wood creaking beneath your feet as you...

I can't really say the same thing since i never grew up in a stable, permanent place. A few years back i visited my relatives in McAllen Texas. It was the first time being there since i left. I believe i was 6 at the time. I remember it being very green and lively. Now, it looks very dead and dry and kinda depressing. South Padre Island still looks the same though so that made up for it. smile That's what i miss the most about "home". I say that because I've lived here and there since moving from Texas, and have been to TOO MANY schools for me to count. Lets just say i won't be going to any high school reunions anytime soon. That's three different high schools and people that i really would rather not see. Gah! skull

going home for me is always so bittersweet, especially since i grew up in the same house for 18 years and then, because of bankruptcy, was forced to move out right before coming to college. my new house is not really my home. i hate growing up. a lot.

I'm planning a trip to Europe for spring of 2009. I'll be spending about 4 weeks there and try to hit a handful of the major capital cities.

To the 3 or 4 of you that read this, please offer any advice you have!!!

Cheers!
