I love Reason.
I stayed up all night fucking with it, spent 6 hours putting together one 20-second loop with 10 tracks. It's nice to get that sucked into something. It's like meditation.
The ghetto hicks that have been parked in their RV 5 feet from my front door all night are still there and still up trying to "fix" something on it. I think...

Last week was insanely busy. Here's a recap:
Monday
We had a meeting with a client that made them a lot happier, and might lead to some more work, and we finished getting a dedicated server running for a client, after spending all weekend and most of Sunday night getting it set up, with some help from MisterSatan even. It was a long, long day....

Holy crap dude, Rad profile pic!
obd:
good to see you last night. now get some rest.
So Shalome and I are almost entirely moved into our new loft in downtown LBC. It's so fucking awesome I still can't believe it half the time. There are only two downsides...well...three:
1) Moving everything from the house of two geeks and the office of their web development company into one loft results in wall-to-wall technocrap. I swear to god, we've got more monitors than...

I figured you had just woken up!
I'm trying to write up something I should send by email before I get to bed, and it's 11.30pm here. Not quite sunrise as in your case, but I have to be up then.
So you're not the only one to suffer!

No. In my journal, I had a memorial to a friend of mine who died last week.
He has almost nothing associated with his name on the internet. But because of the way Google counts blogs and the way SG is so huge and popular (while my friend's name is almost unheard of), it shows up near the top of Google searches for his name, Aram Parker.
So now, many friends, remembering Aram, decide randomly to Google his name. The only seemingly relevant hit is on this Suicidegirls.com hit, from a guy in Anchorage, AK. It's his journal. We can persurse his entire journal. many people will shortly recognize who did this.
I didn't write anything bad about about my late friend, but I figured my SG journal was anonymous, when now a lot of people I know and who will know "stockula" is me, will be reading my damn journal. First of whom was my best friend who said "It's pretty obvious this was you."
Because just about everything in my old profile and journal and everything else about me on this was pretty much up front and real. And I'm a real private person.

I'm definitely enjoying it right now. Running is good times, strangely enough.

since you had this political pic thing going...
I really can't understate the excitement Shalome and I have about getting our loft. We'll be moving into the new place soon. It's awesome.
Got to see some friends this weekend, and meet some cool new people. Last night ended for me at about 11am this morning. I needed that, as it's been awhile since I partied all night and into the next day, and...

Lots to update. I've been really busy since my last journal, so let's get this show on the road...
First off, I've finally got my own group. It's taken off better than I expected, and I hope it remains as active as it is now.
---
Shalome and I may be getting a new place. If we can come up with the deposit sometime...

thanks for making it out to my b-day. My attention span is pretty fucked when I'm that drunk and with strippers walking around. But it was good seeing you.
Sometimes, I get a little bit carried away with myself when I'm debating on the Current Events board.
However, this (the last comment of mine on that page, posted at 4-something this morning) may have been the most thoroughly satisfying 2 hours I've ever spent writing a single response on that board.
Some people just don't know when to quit.

Well struck old Bean!
Downtown LA at midnight will forever remind me of server maintenance at our colocation facility.
Not that that's a bad thing really. We've got one of the coolest colo facilities outside of the DoD, and they've got tasty, free coffee and really nice workspaces so I can comfortably play around on SG while Shalome rebuilds and upgrades the kernel on one of our servers.
She...

Saturday night WAS good.
I can't find the motivation to comment in the journals of people I talk to on such a regular basis.
-But Hello, I'm trying.

You got a reply on the POLITICS: Saddam Denies in Court What He Used to Boast About thread. Monmontestruc decided to again demonstrate his lack of understanding of international law... or for that matter the concept of international law.
Just letting you know.
Just letting you know.
Okay, I've been back from Defcon for a good 24 hours now, so I should probably update...
It was great seeing everyone again, and meeting some of the Hektik guys for more than a couple sober moments this time. Shalome and I really didn't take that many pictures this time, I think largely because we spent a lot of time in the pool (it was...

grin-- I had a blog for nearly two years, with a really good following.. but then I sort of felt glass-housey so I shut it down.

you know that's pretty encouraging, because not only did it get you a job you dig, but you ended up with shal as well
i can only hope things work out so damn well for me
So yeah, off to Defcon!
Got my squid proxy server set up, and I'll be tunneling all of my (and Shal's) web traffic over ssh from the convention to the proxy at our house and out into the internet.
In other words, all of our web surfing will be encrypted. This is essential at a hacker convention, as Saruman found out last year, when...

debauchery-cam? goodness! The possibilitys!

I woke up today with a brutal headache. It felt almost like a nasty hangover, only I didn't drink anything last night. It was odd. Anyhow, that kept me bedridden until 1:30. Now I've got that weird post-headache uneasiness in my head and I have to pull myself together and get to work. Bleh.

I'd just been thinking it was about time we did the friends thing
I'm burned out. It's terrible. I've got so much that I need to do, but no motivation to accomplish anything at all. I can't wait until the end of the month when I get to take a little vacation with Shalome. We're going to DefCon in Vegas. It should be a lot of fun, and hopefully it will give me the time away from...

Burnout sucks balls. At least you've got good things to look forward to and a cute broad to ease the strain. As for your hostage video card, the bastards at Blizzard ruined it for me about two weeks ago with their latest patch. Enabled some weird thing which made the program crash every time I entered a building. Very frustrating. It'll play with my 16mb card, but that is unbearably awful.
Thank god I am now gainfully employed. I put in the G5 order this morning. Would you feel ok with a return of the card and $20? If'n it don't work or something, I'll gladly pay you for the whole thing.
