Thanksgiving is over. Dinner was delicious, and everything was relaxed and kick-back. There's no point in having your holidays be full of stress. They're supposed to be a time to celebrate, not freak out and make people uncomfortable. I think I'm most thankful that I come from a family that doesn't do that.
The best part is that the weekend, the official Saturday and Sunday...

Ha ha! No one even dared to challenge me on my 'Owner of the cutest cat in the world' title. Although Jayne's cats certainly come in a close second. I'm hoping she'll let me have one of them when she moves to England.

Wow, okay, so apparently people just don't feel like posting to areas I generally read. I gotta sort out where the people are!
Wow, all of my J friends are now grey. Some sorta epidemic around these parts.
So tomorrow is Turkey Day. I do love the fact that all of the purely American holidays seem to revolve around food of some sort. Or war. Or both.
July 4th: obligatory bbq and make loud noises day.

Wow, more new features. And new questions. I'll have to wait until the brain kicks in to answer those.
The Death Cab show was great. They didn't play a lot of their old standbys, but they played a lot off Transatlanticism (shocking, since it's their new album and all), which I've been digging for the last few months. They did not play "Lack of Color",...

I remember Death Cab from my Anaheim days. This girl Zemeer used to listen to them non-stop. It effected me so much, I bought a pair of Converse.

I never really liked nada surf. But then again, It's not really what I'm into. Have fun though!
I was driving around last night, listening to the Clean at a medium volume, hearing the wind whistle through a miniscule crack in my window seal. I gradually became aware of a rhythmic beeping noise, and my first thought was, "wow, these guys really were ahead of their time, with this techno backbeat thing." Then I turned down the music and realized it was a...

It's not always how many people who are at a venue that decides how good a band is. When the Sex Pistols played in Manchester in '76 there were about 30 people there. All of whom went on to form bands such as Joy Division, The Fall, and Tony Wilson, who went on to found Factory records. You can rent '24 Hour Party People' for that full story. It's amazing. Even the Stone Roses started off 1989 playing to 12 people in Cardiff, Wales. They ended that same year playing to 30,000 people on Spike Island.
Let me know if you'ld like to do the trade though. You can contact me through my email or AIM addresses.

Lovely relaxing weekend. After the absinthe and cider-laced fun on Friday, we spent Saturday recovering and watching movies. We made it to Broken Social Scene, and they were great, but the crowd, though polite, was thick with kids who must have spent their allowance on fake IDs. Slept in Sunday, and we were supposed to go see TV on the Radio, but sitting and watching...

Dude, people are so hung up on this.
There does not need to be a conflict between two friends who have casual sex with each other when they don't have a current partner. This is perfectly possible to do without either person being a slut.
And further more, a girl who has never even had sex can be a huge slut. Case in point:
Early dates, "things going great she loves hangingout wants to keep hanging out her friends all like me we should hang out more"
Last date,
We were at the bar with some of her friends. She ignored me all night. This was lame so I asked what was up. She said that she is really into her independent life right now and we should just be friends because her and her friends like hanging out with me. I was like what the hell, be friends, you could have told me that before I invested all this time.
So about 30 minutes after that I see her just all over flirty with some random douchbag at the bar.
Now she...the girl that seriously hurt my feelings...that it a slut.
The two friends having casual sex because they're alone and need to feel someone...because they didn't hurt themselves or others in their actions...they are not sluts.

Great party at anything's house last night. Got to meet a few more members, celebrate a birthday, drink yummy homemade apple cider, and witness an awesome free-standing copper firepit.
This was after a brief attendance at a party at Diesel Fuel Prints, where we managed to grab some food and free shirts. The owner was tending bar, which I thought was really fucking cool....

Thanks for understanding. Juno was definitely a member of the family while he was here.

I added a few new pics of random people and things. Go take a look and then massage my ego and tell me what a kickass photographer I am.
Eh, who am I trying to fool. At least everything is in focus, I think.

A bit tired to update, but I probably should. The Lilys show was great, even though I'm not overly familiar with their stuff. All 20 people who turned out for it seemed satisfied. And the guys were all really nice and humble, which I guess they'd have to be since no one really knows who they are. At any rate, they were cool, their music...

Yay, it's now the weekend. I have no exciting plans, but the thrill of not going to work for two days is excitement enough.
The Minds album is great. It's on Dirtnap, same label as the Epoxies, Exploding Hearts, Briefs, Spits, etc., so it sounds like all of those other groups. It's fun, fast, and simple. They're even more fun live, though I don't think...

man, that shirt was the pimpest.
my reasoning was as follows, and was correct. everyone was going to show up wearing black head to toe. i could join the crowd or wear a slick shiny golden curtain shirt.
i got over dressing goth when i stopped being a gothdustrial dj back in 97. i did recently pick up a new slew of CDs, though. the music itself never gets old.

Coolness. I got my tickets for Death Cab for Cutie and Stephen Malkmus (different shows) today! I also picked up The Minds' album, and this new Hedwig tribute project called Wig in a Box. If I weren't such a lazy bastard, I'd provide you all with links to The Minds website and to Off Records. Oh, okay, here you go:

Actually when I interviewed it was during the 'Nowhere' tour and they were still so young and sweet back then that all they did was correct me gently. "Oh, but we're not from Manchester, we're from Oxford." That type of thing. It was still embaressing none the less.
starsandsmokes:
... well, he actually doesn't dress in drag, he says gay men have that covered, but he is still a transvestite. you should have seen the two outfits he was wearing last night, it was great, and he wears them with fake breasts now as well, unlike on dress to kill or circle. he did a bit about this time one of his fake bra stuffing boobs exploded on an airplane once he went above 30,000 feet and he was covered in that goopy stuff they put inside of them, probably not very funny unless you were there, but it was nonetheless great...
p.s. love is hell is good, go get it...

Need to update. Can't look at the last entry anymore. I think I have a problem with being too sensitive, taking things too personally, etc. I'm like metaphorical fruit. I bruise easily. Anyway, enough with the "poor me" crap. Self-pity is one of those useless emotions that I try not to feel, right up there with guilt.

While Ride's Nowhere is an aboslutely brilliant lp and they were from the same era as most of the great Manchester bands, they were actually from just south of London in Oxford. *wink* Don't worry though, I made the same mistake way back then, only the more embaressing part of it was that I was interviewing them when I made the mistake.
My visit to the doctor was pretty positive and although there's no clear cut reason for what happened to me, my blood tests were fine. I'm somewhat relieved.
