One more picture added. I ran across this one when I was home for Christmas, and the utter cuteness of it overwhelmed me for like five minutes. As did the similarity to the woman from "Amelie." At any rate, it made me smile.

theinsomniac:
Cute new pics. So, how are things going these days? I know the coolness ratio in Oregon is slightly depleted since I left, but still, life is managable right? wink

I just added a few more random pictures to my pics. If you've been dying to know what I look like in an apron, what the Hidden Cameras look like blindfolded, or just see some of my ultra-fine camerawork, take a little looksie. biggrin

It was nice to meet you too! I had a really good time. I want to come visit again!

You should see some of my Hawaiian shirts...

The show was not as rocking as I wanted it to be. The Fiery Furnaces, though full of emotion and musicality, failed to ensnare me. Their vocals were kinda low. Ted Leo was better when I saw him last time. Of course, last time I was two feet from him at the Blackbird, while this time I was many, many feet from him surrounded by...

Hooray, I'm finally pretty much totally not sick anymore! And to celebrate my reinstated health, we're going to a show tonight! I'm so excited, as I haven't been to anything since the Hidden Cameras, and that was waaaaaay back at the end of November. Far too long for a concert junkie like myself to go without a fix. The object of tonight's fix is the...

do you know the song, "baby blue," by the warlocks? it's good; you'd like it. have fun rockin out!!
alyssum:
Speaking of which, how was the show?
There's so many places I could have met someone and forgotten about it, I figure asking them about it is a lost cause. I generally assume the second thing, because apparently I have a lot of twins too. Yay for common faces. wink I had one in high school who looked so much like me apparently (I disagree, but who am I to judge my own face?) that my teachers and my best friend were totally fooled. Handy for skipping classes we had together, that!

I lost my Paybacks button the other day. frown

The one that Wendy Case gave me for buying a shirt when they played here and everyone but about 8 people left by the time they hit the stage. That's what you get for having a crappy local metal band open for your decidedly non-metal band. They were fucking awesome. Now they need to come back, since...

You guys are hogging all the sick! Don't bogart it, there are healthy people out there just begging for a sick day. Not me so much, but I'm sure they're out there. smile
I apparently will be weilding the awesome power... I'm totally in awe. biggrin

So I know that everyone out there has had this flu thing, because that (and the weather) seem to be all my friends are writing about these days. Carrying on the tradition, I think I'm sick again. Did anyone get the flu, have it for a week or so, start to feel better, only to get kicked in the ass again? Because that's what happened...

alyssum:
Actually, that was almost exactly what happened to me, except that it was about 2 weeks between. But I liked it, because I was all burnt out of being at work, so it was like a mini-vacation both times.
corvus_pdx:
Yup.

This has been my worst winter to date.

In more ways than one.

Portland is mostly back to normal. Because of the snow packed on the sides of the roads and at the intersections, it kind of looks like all of the streets are wrapped in styrofoam. Dirty, slushy styrofoam. But it's nice to be able to go out, even if I must step carefully.

Bands are going back out on tour again. It's been over a month...

I just spent 45 minutes driving home on what is normally about a 15 minute drive. Most of the main roads were cleared off, but not very well. I saw on the news yesterday that most of West Portland is cleared, but that SE is still pretty much completely covered. Fucking assholes, prioritizing the yuppies over us. mad

When I got to my street, I figured...

The Epoxies.. they never fail to make me smile.
Sorry about your drive home.
obelisk:
Did we already mention out mutual affection for the Epoxies? (Just saw the "song that makes you smile" thread.) Anyway, I'm with you--that album totally sends me. There's something besides happiness fo rme there too--"We're So Small" for example always gives me this odd emotional twinge.

Day 2 of being snowbound. The weather forcast called for a snowstorm, so Monday evening, I hastened to Trader Joe's to stock up on food to prepare, in case the reports were accurate. I was not alone. The shelves at the store were maybe half-filled, and they had signs everywhere saying that they were low on supplies due to the impending snowstorm. I guess I...

yeah, sucks huh? and im sorry but i grew up in north dakota and i gotta say "THIS AINT SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT".

honestly, people here are such a bunch of pansies. if people in ND let weather like this stop them, nothing would move from november to march. i mean its ridiculous. yeah, so theres some snow and ice. clear it off and get going for christ sake! unbelievable.
alyssum:
Oh god, if there's more icing on the way I'm gonna freaking snap. I'm so cabin-fevered I'm seriously about to lose my shit.

I've reached the point of the sickness where it just really doesn't matter anymore. So in the spirit of rejoining the rest of society, I ventured out to the mall today. No, this is not my preferred hangout spot, but I have Christmas shopping to finish (don't ask), and I figured the mall would be my one-stop shopping destination.

Sniffling my way through the stores,...

amitabha:
Sarcasm and Eloquence go hand in hand, in my opinion. But thanks for the compliment. Anyone who really knows me knows that my sarcasm is merely a front, a facade if you will.. While being a facet of my personality, it's definitely the weaker aspect.. it just comes out alot because it's seemingly easier to be sarcastic than eloquent all the time.

Hope you're feeling better.

It's difficult to update your journal when LOTR is on.

Um, still sick. It still sucks.

And I was right there with you coughing last night, luckily Elliot is a heavy sleeper.

My throat hurts. My ears hurt.

It's official. I'm never, ever, ever getting over this damn thing. blackeyed

Sorry to be whiny, but fuck, it's frustrating.
alyssum:
(HUGS) Sounds like maybe you got both the cold and the flu going around, right on top of each other! I had those two weeks apart, but yow... poor thing. Take care of yourself!
theinsomniac:
Hope you feel better soon. I'm just now getting over my cold. I'll be heading up to Portland tomorrow to do some shopping before I head back to school in a few days.
