Keepin' real busy.

I realise that some people have charismatic powers that are
like "jedi mind tricks".

The moment is where the meaning lies.

Charming people , who talk too well, can be intimidating. Or maybe that's just me.

Got to hang some lights yesterday in class... I have an installation piece going up on the 12th... Ug.

Break a leg!! (in general - because people don't say it often enough!) tongue

You know you love practicum, every bloody minute of it... (Or at least when you're in props). I enjoy practicum time, but free labour for shows on top of class work gets ridiculous. Still... there's no business like it.

Existentialism in a set design? That RULES. You'll have to take pictures so I can ooh and aah.

I had the best fuckin' day ever!
Today my propmaking class went to tour the place I plan to work once out of school. It was so kick ass, but I couldn't take pictures for confidentiality reasons.

Where to start.... hmm... well one of the old guys that works there did a little thing called the carbon freeze chamber in a little known movie called...

I LOVE meeting cool theatre people... And thinking of all the fun projects!... Getting PAID is even better!!

The Props guy at U of A worked on Hedwig the play... Not nearly as impressive as Star Wars, but it meant a lot to me, since I LOVED that show.
A cosume designer I've worked with also worked with Kubrick and Erte!... Also met the design asst. for Quills and Sleepy Hollow.
How I would KILL to work on shows like that!.... Someday, someday.

Yesterday I took a mental health day and slept for 14 hours!

Back in the propshop today. I was all set to build my electric chair when I and othes found out that all the on campus wood is spoken for mad so I scaled down my project to 1/4 scale of the original. so that means that only mini-me can fit in it frown otherwise I'd...

btw, you ever get into any of that classic rockabilly? you know, Perkins, Duane Eddy, Gene Vincent, etc.

Also, you ever hear about how Carl Perkins (who wrote "Blue Suede Shoes") had a stroke of bad luck that cost him the title of King of Rock n Roll. Apparently, he got into a car accident on his way to perform on a TV show. Months later, Elvis took the similar sound to the TV and rest is history.....

Glad to hear that the mid term went wellwink I hope that you take a much needed break now for a while. I know that when I was in college - I always didbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

I hate to be an ass...but you've requested my friendship twice. My general rule is you gotta leave a comment or something before doing that...just so I like, know who you are and crap.

Nothing personal smile
holliday:
You definitely made the right choice not to go into social work. You're friend painted a VERY accurate picture of what it's like. Although I worked with domestic violence victims who are disabled. I was the deaf/hard of hearing specialist.

As for going back to school...no shit! I spend my day surrounded by 18 year old little boys!! Half the time it feels like I'm getting a second chance to relive my childhood. The other half of the time I just want to sit alone and think adult thoughts...whatever THOSE are! And since those little boys don't want to hang out with the old biddy in the class...and since I moved far away from home to do this...I have an AWFUL lot of time to myself to think those thoughts. (still not sure what they are)

Anyway, thanks for leaving me a comment wink I hope there aren't any hard feelings or whatever. I'm just a cranky old lady that way ARRR!!!

Who designed it? That rules! I'll have to find a photo of our crayfish pour vous.

The highlight of my week was the props shops! The head of props is francophone, so I even got to practice my French around him - amidst all the leatherwork for Beau Stratigem, laster this semester. I'll be stitching, soon, as well.

Happy Props-making! kiss

Robert? Ha!
He designed South Pacific at Red Deer College when I was there. It looks as though I'll be taking a class with him next year, as well.
The version of the show I worked on by designed by Colin Winslow (also of U of A fame). He's now my drawing prof, and I lurve him! So scathing and great.

Yes, I think most theatre people are quite mad. It's comforting, really.

My Gramps is getting much better.
Those old folks that went through the depression are made of tougher stuff than us today.

Thanks for all your kind words & concern I appreciate it.
I have been keeping my self and thusly my mind really busy over the last 2 weeks. I've poured all my free time into one of my major term projects for my...

Whoa! That's awesome! Just stopped in to see what you've been up to. I especially love the glowing skulls. Everythings cooler if you make it light up. At least in my humble opinion.

Glad to here your grandad is doing well. biggrin

There are enough opportunities in graphic design, but I'm not even sure what I wanna do with myself. I really want to work more with animation or even 3-d.

eeek tomorrow I have to present my proposal for my degree project yet again. I han't even got a clue as to what medium I want my work to be in the end. Good luck comming up with your next project idea!

Hah, in my former appartment I had to keep reattaching the chain from the plug in the toilet to the floaty thing with a paperclip.

Thursday I had to make the single most depessing phone call ever. I had to call my Grampa on his 91st birthday when he's in hospital with Pnumonia for the 3rd time in a year and the don't expect him to leave this time ...

Poor old guy's a widower.

My dad's gonna be a mess.

I think I'll just try to keep busy to...

Thanks.

Nice tattoo! It must be crazy to see something you've drawn on someone's skin! skull

How did the skulls go?

As for Los Straightjackets, they are even better when seen with The Pontani Sisters!

Her tattoo is kinda weird to look at, cause when I do i see the entire process ... what I erased, what I added. I still love seeing it though. But she's gone to Thailand and asia for at least a year. She only missed the Disaster by a week to return for the holidays, she had been there (asia) for 18 months.

I'm still working on the skulls im doing a half cast of just the fronts so my prof said to make a plasticine dam & now I'm painting on layers of latex & cheese cloth to a bout 3/8" thick.

Take it easy.
