You look really yummy on that teaser photo. I shall be looking forward to the release of your set. I'm also glad that you're a bibliophile - fuck the kindle and the other e-book systems. Part of the joy of books is the peripherals to the text. The smell, as you say, be it a brand new copy, where you can actually smell the words; the woody paperiness; the different aroma of the cover stock. If it is old, then it will have picked up ambient smells from where it had been (I have a book, on British wild flowers, in which a previous owner had pressed various fragrant 'weeds', like Meadowsweet, and Tall Melilot, which both contain a chemical called Coumarin, which smells delicious. The book now smells delicious). The feel of a book in one's hand. If it has a dustcover, what does the cover underneath look like? The epitome of this, is, surely the tie-in book for the BBC black comedy, 'The League Of Gentlemen'. Entitled 'A Local Book For Local People', it has an embossed dustcover apparently made of badly sewn and wired-together bits of human skin, including an embossed navel, and more disturbingly, part of a scrotum. Remove this nastiness, and the front cover is a blood-spattered scrapbook, and the rear cover is a hilariously hideous picture of Mark Gatiss (Sherlock's brother Mycroft), in a full body prosthesis, as the character 'Aunty Val'. It has to be seen to be believed. Also, the book does not have to be recharged. Just loved, and put away properly. 😊😘😘
