I am the proud momma of a green Ipod Mini! Well...I will be when my little baby is sent to me.
I refused to believe that they were sold out EVERYWHERE, so, I looked and looked and looked and it paid off! I found the one store that actually had the blasted things!
Why do I have to see giant signs of a dead fetus...

I'm having the crapiest year, I swear!
My car is dying and needs to be replaced. My job is paying me barely enough to pay the bills with, not to mention get a car, insurance, and everything else.
Now I've lost my drivers license, which stinks because I live in Philadelphia, its for New Jersey. I have like zero proof of address for NJ so...

Oh love.
I do hope it goes well with your mum. It does suck when the cures can kill you or give you new problems.
Sending warm juju your way today and always.

I've met the nicest people on here.
And I thank everybody for the good mojo vibe that they are sending my way.
I'm feeling better, i'm not crying anymore, which is always good. The tears were ripping my facial skin a new one...which seems like a very stupid thing to complain about, but it really hurt.

I completely understand about being numb. When my mum was first diagnosed, I was a fucking mess. After I got my diagnosis, I just went some where else, into a very numb place in my heart. It is hard to explain, but I suspect you understand the feeling quite well.
It is tough watching a loved one go through this, and the knowledge that no matter what, no matter how much money, nor how much desire we have, we cannot change what is happening. I would give anything to make her well. Hell I would have traded places if I would have had that to trade with God. Apparently not.
Anyway, take comfort in the fact she is a fighter, and do give her as much time as you can, and never miss the opportunity to say I love you, to her and to others. Nothing worse than feeling like you took someone for granted and never let them know just how much you actually did care.
~cheers

actually, i'm more of a southern bell - wait... maybe those are girls...
The pictures are from Wrightsville Beach, NC - which is just outside of Wilmington, NC - this is where I grew up and really enjoy coming back to visit every summer. Maybe it looks familiar because of all the movies and tv shows filmed there (Weekend at Bernies, Sleeping with the Enemy, Lolita, Empire Records, Dawson's Creek + many more) - or maybe, its simply a typical east coast beach town... regardless, its a fabulous place where I realize more and more how lucky I was to grow up there...

My mom has another cancerous tumor, so this makes three. I'm assuming this one is about as inoperable as the other two. I'm kind of in shock, because she hasn't talked about it much, when she's going for tests its like a vacation from the illness itself because she's in limbo. So it kind of threw me for a loop and before I could even...

Hey you. We all have bad nights, and you know that you have support here times 3. If you ever need to vent, drop me a line and we can try and hook up on IM. It is tough dealing with a sick parent, as both of us can attest to. Do the best you can love, and that is all you can do.
Big hugs pretty lady, and warm juju your way.

wow... sorry to hear this...
this really puts things in perspective for me though... i've been complaining and whining and shit about a tumor removed from my tongue - it turned out benign ( after 2 weeks of holy shit anxious waiting) - but my tongue is full of stitches and i can't really talk right...
i will be out on the east coast in 2 weeks to visit my family - my mom is recovering from a knee replacement that was removed because of a bacterial infection - if a knee replacement is removed, what is holding your leg together? i guess i'll find out soon.
best wishes... johnny

I am so exhausted. I was told yesterday that my blood pressure was on the low side. I mean, it normaly is, but this time it was lower then that. This explains why I've felt so tired and wonky the last few days. I've been so spacey too, like every word out of my mouth was making less sense to others then it was making...

My tooth is broken. Since it now has a nice $1000+ price tag I will be waiting until I am properly insured after July 1st. I will just take advil after advil until then.

Try clove oil for your tooth too. I remember having to wait to go to the dentist for my wisdom teetch, and the clove oil was the only thing that kept me from getting permanent liver damage from having to take too much Ibuprofen.
You can get it at any pharmacy. Hope you feel better sooner than later...

Well, IM tempted to see teh dirtbombs again. We'll give it a go. As for The Fu, we saw them for FREE at the NOrth Star two years ago. It was some sort of Jack Daniels malt beverage promotion. FREE!!! Bad ass show...dead front. Loved it.
As for MCD, I was there that night too. Their last show. Great gig...much fun. Have you checked out any of their new projects yet? Pretty Girls Make Graves or Dead Low Tide? Both are good, but just not MCD.

So, when is this coney island dilly-o? My friend and his wife are threatening to take me to coney island this summer. I'm a little perturbed...but I usually have fun when Im out in NYC>
As for PGMG, I saw them play a few months ago. Brilliant live, but a little ho-hum on disc. Another one of those oddiities, I guess.

So I did my first craft show and did not die, so all is super. I didn't sell anything, but it was very slow most of the day. And I met a very nice fellow crafty gal who will show me how to do needlepoint next Saturday at the next show...yay!!! My transformation to hipster with grandmother hobbies is nearly complete!

After two days, it's taking all my strength not to hug my 'Cube. So far I have Animal Crossing (which is sucking up the most time), Metroid Prime, LoZ:WW, and Soul Caliber 2. Eternal Darkness and the Resident Evil remake have been ordered. So the classics, basically. But that's good enough for now. I saw RuneLateralus today and he recommended a few more. Now that I've discovered a GameStop two El stops from my apartment, it's going to take a lot of will power to save up for the new bass guitar I want...

I'm playing Beyond Good and Evil on X-box. I know its kind of late, but it was only $19.99.

Fathers are definitely there to help us with our dork factor!
Mine was also a big fan of sci-fi/fantasy...vampire movies gallore.
I am sure the bags will be a hit. I always used to get nervous before a show too...do I have enough, do I really think this idea will sell? It can be frustrating to be sure, but worth it when you get people who know the wonders of handmade crafts.
For the knitters bingo I made them a toboggan hat with a very long tail on the top to wrap around the neck like a scarf. This one is smaller than the normal one I would make, which is usually about 5 or 6 feet in length. Hat and scarf in one if you will. I will have to get some pictures up of what I do at some point. You really should post some pics of the bags if you can. I suspect you might find people on SG that would be interested in them? I have not seen the patterns that you are talking about at all. I cannot read patterns though, I do everything from my little brain pan. I do make skull caps as well, wide brimmed hats for blocking out the sun...though here that is not so much a problem.
~cheers

<Are you going to go to any of the other shows?>
Yeah, I'll be there this weekend. Though I'm not sure for how long. My girl and I are helping Erin, Meg and Cisco out with some promotions - which, knowing my luck, is code for: "trying to be polite but instead scaring the shit out of the posh crowd in Rittenhouse Square" all day.
Sounds like fun, though I promised Erin I'd be on my best behavior...no mumbling and swatting at imaginary creatures while promoting the venue.
"Crafty" is an appropriate adjective for the crowd. Good call.
Maybe I'll see you there?

i am currently knitting a sweater-coat for my stepdaughter's birthday (it's almost done, but i ran outta yarn on the second sleeve & had to order more...boo) and i ordered some gorgeous noro kureyon to make some booga bags. i want to felt something, & that looked like a good pattern to start with 'cause it doesn't matter if it doesn't turn out the right size, 'cause it's a purse. i also have my eye on the cute lacy bra & panty set in the summer knitty.com issue...HOT! have you seen it?
Sorry to hear about your mom. My dad's been having problems for the past few years and has had quite a few operations, so I know what it's like.
It's summer in my Harvest Moon land. I have a bunch of mining to get done. Damn.
