I have to get up pretty early so I don't get to see the Kings unless they are playing on the east coast and I miss half the Colorado and Pheonix games. Sometimes I miss part of the first period for the Eastern teams. But as long as I get to see some hockey, I wont gripe!

i didnt watch the season but i saw the one last year on the red wings. it was pretty cool. i was pissed off so i just went to bed. i starting to like the avs. i hope the kick the shit out of the red wings. i hate the wings

I almost have mixed feelings; after the UN dog-and-pony show, part if me was pissed at Bush for the humilation, but part of me figures that Powell knows where the door is.

you know what would be crazy. if the blues beat the avs tonight. it would be the biggest win so far because we have been playing like garbage lately. i might throw a party if the win tonite , but im not keeping my hopes up. i had a dream about getting into bar fights with reid low. we kicked some ass.

i live in new york now. i used to have season tickets in st louis. i just bought tckets to a game in march against the islanders. it should be pretty crazy going to a game in new york with my jersy on. i hope i survive. my prediction is 3-2 blues victory . big come back in the 3rd period. i miss going to games. they dont have alot of games on tv up here either. the games on tv tonite so i going to warn my neighbors about the noise.

I'm more optimistic about the labor situation than I should be. I can't imagine that the owners would be stupid enough to think that a lenghty lockout is in their interests, but then you never go broke overesitimating the stupidity of NHL owners...

I saw the 25th Hour with two friends, I enjoyed parts of it. The part where his father is thinking/explaining what they could do is what they disliked but what I enjoyed the most.

I am still undecided on which Democratic canidate I like, but since it seems Kerry is going to be the nominee, I guess I will start trying to get people to go out and vote for November.

I think the labor situation in the NHL will lead to Ottawa, Edmonton, Pittsburgh, and Carolina ceasing operations.

You know, I do often feel conflicted about who I am... one of the things about my life is that those around me (my friends) have a pretty set-in-stone sense of who "Damien" is, and I wonder sometimes whether I'm just conforming to that because it's easy and expected of me... anything I do gets filtered through that expectation. I wonder how much bearing the perceptions of me have on who I really am, whether my "identity" is just a comfortable mask that I've grown into.

Expectations are a mixed blessing. I don't really care what oeople think of me by and large, but when I quit drinking for a few weeks and everybody laughed in my face... "oh, you're on the wagon, huh? I'm sure that'll last..." it was disconcerting. I mean, who am I? Who is this person that I've become, and how much say do I get in the matter?

This is why relocating is nice... a chance to start fresh, without any preconceptions.

Yeah, so far (six months into it) I like being single. I definitely have those "oh christ, I'm gonna die alone and unloved" moments, but all in all compared to the unbelievably painful relationship I gave the last six years of my life to (I pretty much dated Sylvia Plath-- brilliant, mesmerising, passionate, actively self-destructive & suicidal), singledom is worth the pangs of loneliness.

It's not a particularly constructive approach to life-- hey, pets die and that hurts, so why have pets? relationships can be difficult, so why have relationships?-- but after an initial period of awkward post-breakup "dating" I've settled comfortably into long-term aloneness. I figure somebody will come along eventually, or won't, and the freedom I feel compared to my single friends who are constantly in pursuit of love, or my friends stuck in sexless marriages or fucked-up relationships that suck their souls, seems like a bargain.

I find the poetry of Phil Larkin very consoling... he was a misanthrope (and unfortunately a bunch of other worse things, but whatever, I just dig his poetry), and wrote beautifully about the melacholy pleasures of aloneness.

Christ I'm sorry for this depressing entry. Meant to be reassuring. Anyway fuck "settling," that's no good at all.
