i havn't seen sideways, but i 've seen the preveiws, and i can gaurantee just from that, that eternal sunshine is 1000 times better then sideways. that movie just looks like utter shit.

Well, that could be part of it; a reverse Sex and the City phenomenon. I do think that there's something to the critique that the central relationship isn't entirely plausible. (Although I've heard that said about the other relationship as well, which is ridiculous. To the extent that critques of Sideways rest on the premise that people choose relationships based on carefully considered, rational, long-tern planning, I'm afraid I have to call bullshit.) I certainly don't think the movie was offensive, and indeed find that a biazare claim, but to each their own. Lots of people think that Million Dollar Baby and Dogville are masterpieces; all you can say is that tastes differ.

Oh, I'll concede that Vick is more fun to watch. My only complaint is when people conflate that with quality.

dude, i think THAT is totally the key. that is where all of my wasted time, heart, energy and enthusiasm is going: failed attempts at achieving something that i don't even want.

why is it so hard to shut out the voices of "reason" from all around who tell us to be successful, when really, the key to our success is probably to throw ourselves, with all of our big, passionate, artist hearts madly into whatever it is we wake up every day thinking about.

why should a comic book artist keep trying to make it as a graphic designer?
