I've had cats all my life, but had one for about 5 years, after having a couple of ones which were born in this house die of old age.

The idea of going to the pound and picking one out, when you knew the others would be going to the gas chamber....I just couldn't do that.

So thin guy went through my yard two days ago, and within an hour and a half he had moved himself in. Then I had to leave to count swifts( a whole other story) so I just left the back door open, and he was still hanging out inside when I got back. When it was time for bed, he was on the bed before I was. You know how you can have cats sleep under the covers with you ? He was doing that the second night. One time through the cat door, he had that figured out. He's got his chair in the living room. He goes outside to pee. He hasn't stuck a claw in me once. Nothing startles him.

So he's someone's cat, but the strange part is......he's an unfixed tomcat.

Why would you have a male cat that you treated well, and yet not get him fixed ? This is the fancy side of town for crying out loud.

So.....today I had to put the "found" ad in the paper where it will run for a week, and put a bunch of posters too.

Now I'm in dread, every time I look at my message machine.
