I finally got some sleep. After the 67th hour, someone convenced me to sleep for health reasons. I was starting to feel a little sick.

To celebrate my last day of classes, for the most part, I popped in The Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Three films I can watch non-stop.

I can't stop thinking about that so-called birthday gift...

women do have the power. because we know what you want [and it's not just sex], and we can with hold it from you, or use you for it.

something humorous... last year when i went to see placebo, in my somewhat forward centre position in the pit i passed out, and caused a ripple through the crowd. i woke up on the floor and people's faces were turned to me and not to brian molko. i went out to get some water, and while i was doing so one of my 6'3 friends passed out. but he didn't wake up for a while, and had to be carried out by our little friend. friend and i stole someone's seats for the rest of the concert, i remember particularly pure morning, because i was holding onto his hand, knowing when he was fading in and out of consciousness by the tightness of his grip. he finds it embarassing, but i find it amusing.

I couldn't see any point in posting this in Lit Club because it could be just two guys discussing one book and that's not much of a spectator sport.

I was going to say that, the more I've read the more I'm impressed with how much he doesn't write. In that there's a lot for the reader to infer. It happened to fall open at an earlier page today and I read an early part. It was, in my opinion, subtley very smart. In a way that wouldn't stand out on first reading but would if you re-read it with the information you'd gleaned from the rest of the book. I admire the authors restraint in not wanting to highlight every bit of cleverness and leaving some things there for those that happen to spot them.

Of course, it's possible that I'm a simpleton and everyone in the world would get these references straight off the bat. When you've started the book and are in a few chapters drop me a line because I'd like to see if someone else has or hasn't picked up on all of this subtlety from the get go.

Cheers,

dg

I've been up for 48 consecutive hours now. This is the last week of summer semester and it's the week from hell.

I've been busy trying to complete this film, while finishing up papers and craming for exams. This site is about the only thing that keeps me going. That's kind of sad to think about.

I'm currantly "dating" my ex-girlfriend. I really missed her,...

Oh dear. Quite the predicament for you b-day. I suggest sitting there, be quiet, and enjoy the meal and sights. Hehe.

I saw "The Village" Friday. I don't say this lightly when I stress that it was probably one of the worst films I've seen in a while. I went on and on about how much I hated it, I think my date was a little tired of it by the end. The only good thing about going to see it was catching the "Batman Begins"...

This made my week:

http://batmanbegins.warnerbros.com/

I'm watching "A Shot in the Dark." Damn, I miss Peter Sellers. He was truely one of the best.

Anyways, making story boards is a bitch, especially when you can't draw for shit.

O well, I'm hungry and I was just invited out for a meal at Purple Onion. I love 24 hour food places.

Yeah, Metropolis is just one of those films that you can really see how much movies can be an art.

When it comes to books I've realized that I'm just a brat for modern day material.

I love reading, but get bored easily with "classic literature." Not to say it's bad. Some stuff I do enjoy. I'm just more into the new age bizarre works of Palahniuk, Vonnegut, and Salinger.

Moby Dick isn't so bad, but I hate having to rush through it in two...

So our film premiered at the festival. We didn't win anything, but considering we were one of three other dramas and the jury was made up of comedic performers we saw it coming.

We where, however, able to get a parental advisory in the festival's program. Not to mention the gasps and "Oh my God!" reactions we got during the viewing. That was well worth...

i've hated moby dick for as long as i can remember. i think it has something to do with a cartoon about a whale of the same name, but it's too far back in my memories to be able to readily recall. anytime anyone mentions the book it makes me think of repressed english classes in high school.

mmm... raspberry tartlets and possible frames, oh my!

Moby Dick is the universe. Learn to love Moby Dick or wind up like Ahab.

Double Indemnity was announced a while ago for this year, but so far there is no sign of it. It was supposed to come out with the Universal noirs that came out to cash in on the Warner boxed set's release. The older edition that is available is not all that good. It is a poor print - with reel change marks included! - and there are no extras. So, be patient. It will come.

Freaks is due in early August though. smile

I saw "The Terminal" tonight. My old boss gave me a free movie pass that I just copied at work, so now I have a shitload of movie passes until they expire.

The movie was pretty sappy, but pretty fun. I get pissed at Spielberg at times, but I also give him the fact that he was the one who made me love movies at...

I saw Less Than Jake tonight in a small venue. After getting my ass kicked, I had a great time. However, too many damn emo bands opend for them. God I hate emo!

I wish Trent would fucking hurry up with the new NIN album.

I do like Lynch quite a bit, although so far I've only seen Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, and Mullholland Drive.

Any recommendations on next one?

It depends on what youre in the mood for.

Im a softy for the movies and The Strait Story along with The Elephant Man left me in tears.

If you want something really bizarre, try and get your hands on a copy of Eraserhead.

Better yet, if you can find his short films collection, its an awesome look into his stuff. I really appreciated him a lot more after seeing that.

Maybe some day Six Flags with reinvent it's Batman stunt show and I'll be a performer in it.

Damn, I've been listening to too much Prince lately.

You know, I used to have a lot of respect for cops. That was until recently. The other night I got my first speeding ticket for going 51 in a 25-okay, I deserved that one. The cop was nice enough to put on the ticket that I was going 49 mph so it wouldn't be considered reckless driving. However, it chaps my ass that the...
