How's everybody's holiday going? Hanging in there?
My week, in reverse-ish order:
* Mom visits

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Well, after almost a year of living here my mom finally saw my place. Which meant getting up at 6:45 in order to get a move on cleaning my place up. It has been deemed "cute" and "cozy". Which means something along the lines of small...

that Chanukah part slays me... timberlake's expression is priceless. They should just have him on every episode.

Brazilian / Lebanese. Quite a mix...
catdad:
I think I remember seeing that one, now that you mention where it is. I'll have to keep it in mind. Thanks.

Hi all,
Just got back from my exciting adventures in Missouri. I'm exhausted like whoa, as it was a long trip delayed by a day and a half due to snow in Denver which then followed us to Minnesota. But I managed to catch up on all your journals. Next, comments. wink
Highlight of the trip: Branson, MO. Missouri's answer to Las Vegas. Holy crap. Yakov...

One of my favorite skits ever is Ben Stiller as Yakov Smirnov after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Yakov: "In your country you have freedom. In my country we have. . . *looks around nervously* . . . freedom."

Crowd boos, throws things on stage.

Crowd Member: "Go away!"

Yakov: "No! You go away!"

Yakov curls up into a ball on stage.

Yakov: "What does the New World Order hold for Yakov?"

Ok. So I grossly misquoted. But it had been like 14 years or so since I saw that.

YouTube has effing everything. Unreal. The RIAA and their kin organizations will likely bring this new golden age of free content to an end though, even though the companies have no plans to monetize most of it.

Yes, it's that time again, time for another grumpy-post!

I'm sure I'm not alone here in being one who has difficulty asking for help or favors or... pretty much anything. I pretty much hate it. And what could make asking for help even more horrifically shitty? When one's requests go ignored. This year I kinda decided that this was the year...

I have some meds for you. Haha, nah they don't even really work to help my mood much. However I think I'm still doin ok, a little on the anti social side but that's nothing new. Can't wait for the light to stick around past 4:30 in the afternoon though.
brokenbeatnik:
I think that while asking for what you want and not getting it sucks, it's probably better than not asking and not getting, because at least you know where you stand.
I have been wildly oscillating between mopey and delirious, but generally have been too busy with work and play to be too mopey. I sleep more than I should though even though we get a couple more hours light than you guys and a lot more sun..

There are certain things you can reasonably expect compliments on, and certain things where it's just a bit surreal. Here's my own for-instances:
* The adorable diminutiveness of my ovaries. confused
* The hairiness of my eyebrows. tongue
* The juiciness of my salivary glands. shocked

What's the oddest compliment you've gotten?

Anger aside, this has been an awesome weekend. Started out Friday with the concert, which was way more than I ever expected. Saturday, I got a call from the beautiful December and we talked about her fantastic adventures over a few drinks. Always awesome. Then took the girl who'd taken me to the concert ice-skating for the first time. We actually got her up and...

I can do that- I'm always thinking of people.... I have so many long-distance friends, ya know. Many here, too, but many way out there.
I need to get some hang-out time with Automatic.... and Miguelitooo too, as I just bought his periodical-zine. And pygmy. And Hippomonki.

Well, for the first time in a very long time I'm drunk. It's an interesting checkup on my subconcious. And ...my subconcious is ragingly pissed off apparently. So, so very full of anger. Whoda thunk. I want to yell and scream and curse and tell people to do nasty things to themselves. Okay, so I guess my journal the other day was a pretty big...

I am trying to be content in my heart and find the power to just ignore what angers me and thus take away its power. Works sometimes but not always. Steel toed boots are my backup plan.

Went to go see Devotchka last night, with a couple of the Boy's friends. I knew it was going to be a freaking awesome concert when it opened with a cover of my favorite Nina Simone song, and quite possibly one of my favorite songs of all times. Sung by a girl with an absolutely amazing voice, apparently operatically trained. So now I'm slightly obsessed...

dude, i am about to start some crafts too!!!

It is nice to know that people can hardly imagine me sad. Thanks.

My ass, no offence, is more ample than yours and i kick up fine.............the worst that will happen is just bouncing off and come back down on your feet. Hold crocodile for awhile to build up the triceps. But, i assure you, it's ALOT of the shoulder thing. And the fear thing too.

Alright Life, are you listening? This year I get what I ask for, without the trauma. This year I grab you by the balls and yank until my requests are filled, and you're gonna like it. No more sitting around for vast periods of time waiting patiently for my reward. We're done with that chapter now. It's time to get a move on.

I know, right. If I would have conceived a kid that first time, he or she could be losing their virginity by now. Talk about depressing. I really want to find a way to feel better about getting old. There are good things about it. It's just hard to remember that.

And oh, haha! You are so sweet. kiss

might i suggest that the spree involve a full sized trebuchet? maybe tar covered bails of hay, ignited shortly before launch at unsuspecting villagers?

This has been an exceptionally frustrating week. Low on interactions with humans, high on failure to accomplish what would seem to be fairly simple things. So apparently my brain's response to this is to have strange, vivid dreams with lots of my friends in it. And incredible, adorable, shrinking pigs.
I'm not wholly clear on the order, but here's the snippets I remember:
1) The...

well the book was written in the form of "letters" to a friend. And the person whose writing is pretty much telling his friend everything about his life over the course of two years i think. It just made me realize how much more sensitive and observant I could be if I was more shy and quiet. And it made me sad to the fact that over the years I feel i may have missed out on some of the simplicity of life easier taken in by people that listen as opposed to those that speak (me being a speaker). It was an awesome book and i'd recommend it reguardless of the fact I think it was geared toward adolescent readers.
as for your dream...... i don't think it's totally strange because we did have a sleep over party and i think that there was cuddling.... maybe it was more of a flashback!ahahah
but i miss you too!!! kiss
catdad:
Cool dreams. I've never dreamed about shrinking pigs before.
