Responding to: How'd the interview go?


Excellent , It would have been better if Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam would not have flaked on us . Lisa Lisa sucked anyways, she was singing to a pre recorded tape and was out of key most of the time. We did meet Cameo and The Dazz Band (Let it Whip) and got some excellent live footage . I will tell ya these are some of the most down to earth people . The Dazz Band requested us to interview them so that was cool it would of been cooler if we would have known they was opening. We got the job done none the less. We have an upcoming interview with Kool & the Gang . The promoter liked us so we are hooked up on different bands he brings to our area.

I avoided the whole university/college thing, partly because I didn't want to be dependant on my parents. I've been debating going finally, though it would be such a long road and barely seems worth it. I'd have more choice of jobs I suppose.

I'm sure most employers would like it if education were all profession-oriented (like computer science, business, law, medicine...) but then a great deal of our culture would die and lots of amazing people would be out of work.

I agree: it's like a cake without icing. If you don't have a degree, it will trip you up, sooner or later. It doesn't mean much once you have it, but it does mean something if you don't have it at all.

After I got my degree, I spent several years working at bullshit jobs simply acquiring skills. I learned how to make a good resume, how to interview, how to get my resume to the right person (always key) and learned that it was often more a matter of who I knew than what I knew. Very depressing, that.

I'm glad I did my degree. I enjoyed taking the time to read, and ponder, and think, and write my ass off. But I went through a long period of disillusionment right after I graduated where I felt like, "What the @#$@# did I spend all that time for this worthless @#$@#ing degree?"

Wow, you look so young. I bet you get a lot of that huh?

Neither of the two things I mentioned directly causes the other, I don't think. I'd say they're both effects of a kind of all-encompassing nerdiness that dominates my personality: part introversion, part love of order, part fascination with how things work. I'm so left-brained it's surprising I don't just keel over... Luckily, I live in a phase of human history when my particular "bent" is valuable. If I'd been born in the 10th century, I'd either be a monk, or burned at the stake. (I'm just guessing, here...)

About the Kama Sutra: I don't think it's too hard to find "westernized" versions of it... might be hard to find more traditional ones. I just invented "page 197", though... I have no idea what I'm claiming to like, in my profile...

yes... i ate 2 strawberry pop-tarts, 8 crackers with peanut butter, a juice box (orange flavor), a bowl of chili, a can of root beer, aproximately 15 rollos, 1/4 bag of microwave popcorn, a handful of cheetos (crunchy kind), 2 carne asada tacos, a dr pepper, and i am now eating tapioca pudding. did i get all the food groups today, mommy?

I need to read something like that today. I completely agreed with this thought too. It makes me think that the problem is that the outside world (such as people, material things, situations, etc.) enter one's cricle and disrupt the balance we have. Therefore, leaving everything behind and going to a place of peace where nothing seems to exist but the world's beauty and ourselves, help us reset the balance for which we yearn. If only we could just live there every day! But ultimately, human are just unable to live a self-contained life and must return...
