The latest episode of South Park seems to have been partially inspired by my life.

It mentions my town by name as the most horrible, most miserable place on Earth. At least, that's how the goth kids describe it.

Back in early college and late high school, my two best friends and I would hang out in Denny's largely because there was no other place...

Well, I've never been to Scottsdale, actually never been anywhere in AZ, unless you count your airspace. But I've certainly been to some pretty cruddy places. And as much as I dislike Atlanta, it's really not a terrible place overall. That's funny though, my high school hangout was also a Denny's. Maybe they need to modify their ad campaign.
bow:

South park is one show everyone can relate too!

This stupid bit from the latest South Park has me laughing so hard, and I can't explain it.

This is a dumb idea that just popped into my head as I was on my way out the door, but I wanted to get it down.

I think the reason I react so much to the word "spirituality" is because people will often reject a good way of life, or system of morality, or scientific knowledge, or overall enlightenment by warning that we must...

I find that when you keep pushing rationality and confronting people with pesky facts and such, they eventually just start to pretend you don't exist. It's some sort of self-preservation mechanism. It's actually kind of entertaining.

I'm happy with the results of the presidential election last night. America showed that most of us have moved past the bigotry of earlier generations against black people in our society.

We did, however, strongly affirm that we have not moved past all bigotry. In California, Proposition 8, an initiative to ban gay marriage in the state once again, passed by about 4%. The Knights...

Please continuously remind me to stay away from that damned thread. It's like watching a grisly execution. It's horrible, but I can't look away. Hell, I'm not even just watching.

It's incredibly discouraging when you try to get people to think critically. Particularly when they're dead-set against it, and claim reason is a biased concept, there's no value in science, and education and training in science and mathematics is a useless idea meant to oppress the masses and let scientists and educators claim they're better than everyone else.

Some days I just want to go on the warpath.
sick:
Me too. Like I said, a grisly execution. It's fascinating and awful.

But I stick around in it because I view it as an ethical obligation to confront ignorance and misinformation wherever and whenever I find it. It's such a powerful compulsion that I can't even ignore people properly when I have them on ignore.

But you probably know what I'm talking about. What are we supposed to do, say, "Oh, it's ok. We'll just back down and let you take over everything. No problem."

I'm glad Obama won.

I'm pissed off that Prop 102 managed to legislate bigotry into my state's constitution. Arizona now has a provision in its constitution banning gay marriage.

I'm pissed off that our current mayor lost, and a guy who's a total ass gets to take over her job.

There are a number of other elections in other states being lost.

Today was a...

Went to an Adavant show last night. For those who somehow hadn't heard me say it, Adavant is my brother's folk metal band. As far as we know, they're the only one in the western United States. There's one on the east side of the country, but they're not very good.

Anyways, it was just at a local club. The headlining act was L.A. Guns....

I agree with you on most everything except Prop 200. While it is a source of funds for people who may not be able to get it elsewhere, it sets the limit of interest at 391%, which in my opinion, even though I would never use one, is highway robbery. While this would bring reform, I don't think it is nearly enough.

Glad to know that I won't be the only informed voter out there, I hope that other people in AZ see this and at the very least it spurs them to go vote and have their voice heard. Nothing is more important during this difficult time!
fragilesong_:
Yeah, I'm just going to move on past it. It's not worth any more of my time.

Less than two weeks left until the election...

Welp.

It was awesome.

Mikael was funny as usual.

Set list included, to the best of my memory:
Heir Apparent
The Grand Conjuration
Serenity Painted Death
The Lotus Eater
Bleak
Hope Leaves
The Night and the Silent Water
Deliverance
Demon of the Fall

And, for an encore:
Drapery Falls

My only complaint is that they stopped playing eventually. I would've liked to hear Ghost of...
