I have such a thing for "bodysuits." They were really popular when I was in eighth grade, and I had many, many sexual fantasies about the girls who wore them in class right when my hormones were at full potency. They would wear them as a shirt under jeans, sometimes with / sometimes without a bra. Twenty years later, I can remember this vividly.

Then...

Well, I'm in a relationship now. (We've been dating for two weeks.)

Everything did, indeed, seem a little Disneyland for a bit and SPLASH here comes reality!

I have become, for the first time, ensnared in a conflict between two girlfriends.

Exhibit A.) I and S. flirted casually, but uncompellingly (for me), at a bar and on FB. S. thought that this might lead somewhere....

So many good things today.

Slept in and read Wuthering Heights for a while. So much better than I even remembered. Emily Brontë is a master of her art. Can't get enough of her exquisite composition.

Then I read that my publisher Caveworks Press just got an Iowa Arts Council grant to publish a noteworthy poet, Ray Young Bear. On top of being proud of...

It's been a great year so far. Teaching composition as an instructor at a college. Released a single on Bandcamp. Playing shows. Collaborating with other musicians. I have two books worth of poetry cued up and ready to type and edit.

Furthermore, I've been legitimately enjoying being single. It's been almost a year since my divorce, and it has taken me a lot of time...

Need to finish my Master's project by the 15th.

Need to finish my taxes by the 15th.

Need to finish writing a story on Dylan Sires and Neighbors (the band) for my local newspaper by the 15th.

Need to have my birthday on the 14th because, well, my birthday's on the 14th.

Argh!

I need to blog more!

Things are great. March started off wildly. I gave a reading to a full house at the Hearst Center for the Arts, and appeared in a couple of radio spots to promote said event.

Then a week later I played a twenty minute set as an opener for Americana great Brooks Strause at the Octopus in Cedar Falls. Great...

What? I've been on here almost a month, but haven't been blogging!

Today I felt useless and lethargic, but I really was semi-productive. I wrote a song and went for a run. Rest of the day spent on Facebook and Netflix, Wah Wah. Watching a lot of Portlandia.

Tomorrow, though, I'm super-busy! In the morning, I'm recording a radio spot to market a poetry reading...

New to SG! Just joined and am thrilled by all of the interesting and intelligent sub- counter- and trans-cultural people on here. You all make me feel very vanilla, but a flavorful vanilla. Can't wait to make connections on here and see what types of interesting shenanigans this site gets me into.

I'm an Iowa boy and probably won't travel much further out than Minneapolis...
