I've worked at the center for a year...since day one, one of my favorite clients had autism. I've been her worker every day since... I wish we were taught more about autism in training, because there are so many things (like calming techniques) we don't know unless we read books outside of work. We got pretty extensive training on Cerebral Palsy and Prader-Willie disease...nothing on autism. Its kind of sad to say that, considering about 40% of our clients are autistic.
Anyway, like I said...I could talk all day about it.

i wrote this thing after my last break up about hwo i wasn't going to let it turn me into one of those jaded bitter people who hurt others in relationships because they can't deal with themselves...and that in part is why i avoid them now...i just don't want to carry over my insecurities into a new situation..it wouldn't be fair... but i really do miss the *good* aspects..like knowing someone cares, having the constant companionship, having that person you know you can call without excuse..i don't know the fun stuff...but i feel liek i have yet to be in a relatiosnhip that didn't leave me feeling broken and insecure when it ended so...it's a scary prospect...
