Hello. My inaugural blog. What shall I say? Well, it is nice to be here. Should be interesting.
This evening I went out to the Politics & Prose bookstore here in DC and saw William Gibson, the author, speak. I can't say I am a fan, really, because I have never even read a whole book of his, but a friend of mine thinks he is the greatest, so I went too. He was pretty interesting. He is funny and perceptive. I did something I never do and got a book I had signed by him. A good evening, all in all, although I spent $50 on a book and DVD's, which I normally don't buy but they had a diabolically good selection. Supporting independent bookstores is important, too. If they are good, I am willing to pay a little more. It is worth it to me. Bookstores have been dropping like flies in the last few years in this town. Last week, the three-story Barnes & Noble in Georgetown closed up shop.
