I stood on the beach, allowing the tide to wash over my feet. The frothy water calmed me, like a wool blanket a mother places over her child. I felt secure, even happy that the sky wasn't clear that day. The sky, dotted with clouds, made me realize that nothing can escape imperfection.
My twin sister splashed cold water on my back, and a feeling of temporal paralysis crept up my spine. I heard her laugh from behind me, as she continued to fling salt water onto me. We both screamed, like children, as a monstrous wave sent us crashing back to the shore.
We landed on the beach. The small amount of sunlight piercing through the clouds quickly dried us, leaving our skin coated with ocean residue. I felt so serene, so content with the way the hair on my head dried. the way the sky fell into the sea, engulfing it infinitely. the way the time seemed to pass as quickly as the ocean rotated waves. the way we lost time that day.
