Hi!
What a long week.
I learned early Wednesday morning that my good friend Larry had been in a pretty bad accident on his bike. He had a couple of fractured ribs, broken leg, fractured hip, and was in the hospital. I didn't know what to do, so I took off work and drove six hours to his home in Foster City. His girlfriend was hysterical and crying on the phone which kind of freaked me out!
I got to his house, picked up his father and drove to the hospital. During the drive his father assured me that Larry was going to be fine and that the accident wasn't too bad. What a relief! I was expecting something really horrible! He also kindly offered me a room in their home, which was great, since I wasn't sure where I was going to stay and I didn't even have a toothbrush.
Larry was sleeping when we arrived. He coughed and blood came dripping down his nose which really worried his girlfriend. His leg was in a cast and I was told that surgeons had operated on his hip.
I went to the hospital early the next morning with his parents. Larry was finally up and eating breakfast which made his mother happy. He was surprised to see me and tried to talk, but his throat was sore making it difficult for him to speak. I gave him a small gift that I had purchased the previous night along with a couple of magazines. He thanked me for driving all the way there and told me not to worry and that he was fine.
I stayed one more day and drove home.
My neighbors fed my fish and actually cleaned up a little and did my laundry! I can't believe how nice some people are. I have to get them something really amazing. What do you get an old retired couple?
Forgive me if the story was a little hard to follow. I'm still in a daze and can't think straight. I'm going to crash.
