The Perfect Show
Left late from work-- straight to the Echo Lounge. Surprisingly, the Pinback show sold out the day before, but after my success with Pixies tickets this morning i felt like anything was possible. Despite a crowd of 20+ without tickets, one of the first people i spoke to had an extra. Sweet! Now just to get one for my friend i'd planned on going with...
20 minutes or so later, i finally scored another ticket. I gave the guy a 20 and had him keep the change. All set now! Call my friend. Sounds like i wake her up.
"I've got your ticket, come on down!"
"No you don't."
"Yeah, i do, come on down!"
"Um, i'm really exhausted. I don't think i'm up for it..."
Ok. Great. Make a few more phone calls. Finally offer my ticket to an unassuming girl hanging outside the club with some friends. Things are falling in place.
Inside, starting to get into the flow of things after the ticket ordeal. Eventually see friends at the door. Chat with them for a while, and gradually lose them as everyone pushes closer to the stage, Pinback starts to get ready.
Wow. What a fucking phenomenal show. Just the right speed, just the right mood, hell-- probably just the right amount to drink. Totally floored. I'm in such a great mood right now.
And, serendipity: I had my earplugs in my jeans from The Darkness show last night.

I've got tickets for the "second" show on Oct. 14th. I'm thrilled to pieces.
