I'm back from Iceland, Norway and a few days in England for good measure. Trip was awesome, of course.
Arrived in Iceland just in time to witness financial collapse. Nothing too dramatic really, mostly people wondering what was going to happen and who to blame. Every cafe seemed to have an interview and naturally everyone was talking about it from the bars to the airport. Traveled south and hiked on Europe's biggest glacier and visited a deserted natural hot spring in the middle of the mountains.
Norway was a pleasant surprise. Oslo felt like Tokyo compared to tiny Reykjavik. Hung out, drank wildly expensive alcohol and bought a crazy piece of art. Bergen was next. Found my favorite coffeeshop in Norway (and possibly the world) and met some great Norwegians. Traveled up to Trondheim to visit friends and wrapped up Norway in Stavanger. Not my favorite city but worth the visit.
It's been long enough since I worked in London that I can't just show up and know my way around the city. No matter since the plan was to visit grandparents in the countryside. Pershore was a pleasant town and I enjoyed driving through the Cotswolds. Surprisingly enough I even had a good meal or two.
I live to travel and play the free spirit as much as possible. Didn't get myself into much trouble this time. Mixed feelings about heading home after almost a month. Poorer in cash but richer in experience. How hard can it be to come back to SF?
