I was writing some of this in Arden's journal, and figured it was good for me t write it in my own...
I just got back from my Dad's. My mother passed Dec. 17, 2003. Christmas was hard last year and, obviously, the one before that since her death was a week before. This one was just plain weird. He remarried in May and this was the first time I had been back since. It was odd enough coming back to the home where my mother lived and having another woman living there...
Then I saw the pictures...
On the wall were pictures of my Dad and his new wife in the same places where there used to be pics of him and mom. And the pics were almost identical to the old ones. Same crappy Wal Mart background, same slightly disheveled Pops, same poses... it was almost like someone had photoshopped in a new person to the old photos.
I must have smoked half a pack of smokes on the back porch just so I wouldn't have to go back inside. The whole thing was surreal. I spent the rest of the weekend trying not to look at the pics.
Yes.... Christmas was weird this year.
