we are on long island. the marriage reception of some friends from california, a family party. this house is truly bohemian. g and i are sitting in the den watching the playoffs and she's getting a chair massage. the house is filled with laughter and candlelight. this house is sort of like the winchester house to me...there are staircases leading to different floors, different niches. there are 3 hearths that i've seen so far. the chandeliers are wrought iron, french porcelain and hand-painted. there are great mirrors above the fire with candelabras surrounding each side. there is a copper tub in one bath, we are one block from the beach. this is our last night in new york and i am truly a bit maudlin. last night we saw a good friend from cali and went out dancing. we stayed in brooklyn (park slope area) last night and went out for brunch today. park slope is the berkeley equivalent out here. there is a great dyke population, better rent options and more trees. there are brownstones galore and more bicyclists and yard sales around corners...
we are here celebrating a great lesbian marriage that could soon be rendered inconsequential and false by a california court...what a shame...
the people here are beautiful and full of life, from rhode island, new york, california and ireland.
goodbye new york, thank you and until the next time perhaps...
